Re: quick question need some help

What part of the tire moves in? front/rear or top/bottom? If it's turning (like you would turn the wheel) that is your tie rods, if it's top to bottom like the wheel is trying to go up into the fender then it's ball joints.

Also, I would possibly put my money on a bad CV axle. Loose and worn out CV's can create a lot of play. do this:

Jack the car up (WITH E BRAKE ON)
-put the loose tire (the one that moves) up in the air. Grab it at 6oclock and 12oclock. See if it moves up/down. If it does, it's bad ball joints.
-If not grab the tire at 3 and 9, shake left to right, if it has play then it's your tie rods.
-If not get underneath and check the CV boot where the 2 shafts meet on your axle. When they are going bad they usually are torn and the grease is all over. Check that as well.

Let me know how it goes.

Ok i grabed it at 9 and 3 and it moved ever so slightly not as much as it moved with it on the ground rolling backwards. So that would be tie rod then?

Re: quick question need some help

Is that the movement it makes? Like turning left to right or vice versa?
