Honda prelude mileage problem

Hey I am new here and i seam to have a problem with my preludes fuel economy
its burning fuel like crazy and no one can tell me why i get 17 liters to 100km
and barely can reach 400km on a tank of gas if anyone can help explain what
might be causing this or if there is anything i can do to fix this it be greatly appreciated otherwise
with an economy like this no matter how much i love this car i might just have to sell it.(really dont want to)

Any questions ill answear them best to my knowledge
2001 Honda Prelude SE 123XXXkm

^^^ Absolutely 100% with this guy. Start there, those are most likely the leading issues. If those aren't I'd be surprised.

Also, I'm not quite up on my non-american brand ludes, but if i'm not mistaken you're 2001 SE prelude came with an h22 correct?

I didnt think the 5th gen ludes came with anything but an H22?

Cancel that. Wikipedia schooled me. But it did say that the SE came with an H22A4 stock.

100% Agree! Though it doesn't hurt to check the:
Pcv valve
Fuel filter
and Tire pressure

Re: Honda prelude mileage problem

So you are all saying i should get a tuneup and this will help add my mileage back to normal?
I might con sider getting it done but
again the cost of a tune up quoted from Honda was 500$ i
might have to browse for a place that does it cheaper.

Come one bro you should by a manual and do it yourself
Very simple stuff. You will save alot of money and this way you bond with your car and learn more about it.

Re: Honda prelude mileage problem

- clean egr & injectors (get new seals for injectors) easy DIY (i dk about the seals part)

- new: spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor easy DIY (im gonna do my distributor soon myself)

- new cat and o2 sensor easy DIY (just need jack stands, tools, and beer)

- new air filter HELLA EASY DIY

- check fuel lines for leaks > This you might want to let someone who knows what their doing check it out.

I'm not tech savy myself either, but the things i wrote DIY on is pretty easy. Unscrew here and there and pull out. Repeat to put back on.

But yes, it definitely should bring back some MPG to your car.
