HID Installation

I've searched and searched and I can't find any solution to my problem. I'm trying to put an HID kit in my 2000 Prelude. I bought the Xentec H1 kit on Ebay and I'm having trouble fitting the bulbs into the housing. The factory bulbs had plastic wings on the that were held in by the metal arm. The new HID bulbs do not hve the plstic wings and the metal arm is not holding them tightly into the housing.

Factory bulbs:

Has anyone else run into this issue and if so how did you solve it?

Re: HID Installation

Did your bulb come with a rubber-like seal on the wiring? That seal is used as a wing to hold it in place.

Re: HID Installation

No, there's just the bulb, followed by 2 wires and 1 male and 1 female plug.

I tried bending the metal arm to hold the base of the bulb but it isn't holding it tight enough and I also don't have the rubber piece that helps hold it in like in your pictures.

Re: HID Installation

You might try a rubber washer from the hardware dept at Lowes or Home Depot to make up the space gap. You do have to bend the retaining clips quite a bit to make it tight, but there shouldn't be any play in the fitting.

Re: HID Installation

I had a similar problem with my H3 lights. The clips are flimsy so I ended striping some twist ties and wired them tight. Now I don't get headlight wobble like I got with just the spring clip.

Re: HID Installation

I Dremeled the housing to the OEM white piece in picture one so i can fit the wiring through it and cut a small space so it would hold well. right down the center of the plastic white piece.. Here is a picture

Re: HID Installation

So with my old H1 bulbs, could I remove the plastic adapter and put them on my HID bulbs?

Re: HID Installation

You can either dremel out everything from ur stock bulbs except the plastic wings, or use the H1 HID bulb adapters from ebay. I even had one of my bulbs in w/o either of those solutions, i had to bend the metal and just use that for a while. it wasn't super stable but they didnt brake. than i got the adapters and they work awesome
