Where to look for wheels/rims?

I just bought a Prelude that has the stock wheels that it came with. I was looking for some good sites where I could look for some new rims. Thanks.

Here's a pic:

I bought mine from Wheelfire.com. They were reasonably priced and the shipping was fast.

Re: Where to look for wheels/rims?

also keep a look out on your local craigslist and stuff, you would be surprised the deals that can come up but the good ones go fast so you gotta check it pretty regularly. i would also advise that you make sure everything on your car is mechanically sound before buying wheels. it would suck to buy some sweet new wheels then your car break down and you dont have money to fix it and cant drive and show off your wheels. just something to consider, idk your financial situation or the condition of the car.

Re: Where to look for wheels/rims?

^^I used to work at an Acura dealership where I bought it so I had a couple techs look at it pretty good. It's in great condition, one of the reasons I probably paid too much for it but I'm happy. The carfax was really good. Here's a link:

Re: Where to look for wheels/rims?

^^What do you mean pretty incomplete?

Also, my brother knows a lot about cars (he works for Toyota) and this is what he said if I get different wheels: "You should plan on lowering the car if you're buying wheels. Look around on the forums and you'll notice that custom wheels look a lot better when the car is lowered. If you don't lower it, you'll end up with a lot of space between the tires and the fender and it just won't look right."

Do you have to do this even if I would get the same size tire?

Re: Where to look for wheels/rims?

You know how hard it is to find an original factory looking prelude with factory wheels? I mean, you can definitely switch them off, but don't sell them, they don't even looked scratched!

Get a great set of rims. Like Honda Japan, BBS, ASA, Enkei, and Volks. as long as the rim is not larger than your factory rims, you do not need to change tire sizes, unless you want more contact with the road.

Re: Where to look for wheels/rims?

I'm pretty lost right now. This is what my bro just told me:

"You will have to buy different size tires if you buy a wheel sized differently than the stock ones, which is what you'll probably do. I think the stock wheels are 16 right? You'll probably want 17s.

The overall diameter of the wheel plus the tire should stay the same. What you're doing is buying a larger wheel and a skinnier tire, so the overall diameter of wheel and tire combined is the same as stock. When you mount a skinnier tire, the "wheel gap" between the fender and tire seems to increase (it's an illusion) even though the overall diameter of the wheel + tire is the same (or should be as long as you buy the right sizes). Yes, it's complicated.

Besides wheel size, you also have to think about wheel offset, basically how far the wheel sticks out from the fenders when you view the car from the front or rear.

Check out discount tire and select your car in the drop down box. It will tell you the stock tire size is 205/50-16. The 50 in that number represents how "skinny" the tire is. The smaller the number, the skinnier the tire. Then click on "View Optional/Plus Tire Sizes" and you'll see the optional sizes.

Yes, the Integra was lowered. You can do it yourself but you'll probably want to take it to a shop. Acura can do it but they'll probably charge you a lot. You'll have to buy the parts to lower it, either coilovers or lowering springs. There are probably a lot of threads of people showing off their cars with various options to give you an idea of how it would look.

So yeah, you could just buy some wheels and throw them on. But to really make it look right, you have to lower it, install the wheels, and then get an alignment. And if you lower it too much, you have to buy other suspension parts to prevent your tires from wearing out prematurely."

Help, it's like he's speaking a different language but I don't want to keep emailing him back sounding like an idiot asking what every little thing he says means.

Re: Where to look for wheels/rims?

vrwheels.com, memoryfab.com, and wheelflip.com are all good places to start for legit used wheels. Do not get some crappy replica wheel.

Also look up cz wheels on fb, they can get just about anything in any size you want. I believe they have their own site now too.

These are at a really good price and non staggered, would look awesome if you got them refinished http://www.vrwheels.com/work-meister-p-2942.html
