Icon5 New Kid

Whats goin on guys, I just joined the forum a few days ago and this is my first thread.

I picked up a 2000 Base M/T, leather interior, with no motor and tranny along with a brand new h22 t3/t4 turbo setup for $1,300. The car is dropped close to 3 inches on KYB Blue Adjustable Coilovers running stock blades. I picked up an h22 & tranny for $1,400, so I'm gonna boost 8lbs for the time being once the motor is in.

Just posting my first thread. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any parts, I'm more than willing to haggle with ya.

Re: New Kid

welcome do some research on boosting your h22 idk much about it but from my understanding if you go much above the 8lbs you mentioned you may have problems

Re: New Kid

My plan is to just bolt on the kit for the time being, run low boost (i don't care about speed, i just like the sound of the wastegate haha) and save up my money to have an h22 block resleeved, ported & polished head, forged bottom end, injectors, and a good turbo tune.

As far as pics go, I'll take some tonight. Should I post them to my profile or on here? Let me know. The h22 is on a stand right now.

Re: New Kid

@Psychochimp - It's my dad's trailer, it was his dads before he died 25 years ago. She's towed back and forth forever. The hood looked good in the craigslist pics but its got no clear on it, screwed up hood pins, and cracks in the carbon. Still looks fresh in the pics tho haha
@SoFlaKidd - I'm not sure either. I'm a real stickler for saving my money so I'll probably wait to boost it. Should be a month before shes on the road again bone stock

Re: New Kid

Tune the car right when you install the turbo. Before you drive it.

You're right. My bad. I was born and raised a Chevy guy, and I'm the first to get into the import game. All of my Dad's buddies with Camaros and Chevelles disowned me.

Neither of us know anything about turbo setups, just what I've read on forums and the like. I have read that if you intend to boost you have to trailer it to a tuner which isn't a problem as you can tell from the pics.

No one has posted anything as far as possible hp. what would this run me for whp in my h22a4:
- Crower stage 2 cams
- Ported & polished head
- Eagle Rods & Pistons
- T3/T4 turbo setup
- 880cc injectors

Turbo is completely subjective and depends on more then just your components. It is an overall manifestation of tuning, parts and boost along with elevation and fuel used. In other words it's hard to say

You can start by reading here:Basic | Turbobygarrett

If you read through that you will gain some understanding of what you're getting yourself into. Really good info from Garrett.

Good luck!

Re: New Kid

Thanks man. It's a whole different animal from a tunnel ram with dual holley 450's haha. My buddy picked up a bugeye WRX and his turbo is tuned to 16 pounds. Loved the turbo feeling right off the bat.

While I'm here, how bad is dropping in an h22? The car has no motor and tranny and came with thousands of bolts from all over the car i put in a box. I just want to know: if its a real pain in the ass I should wait until I have a week off for or is it more of a weekend type deal? It doesn't seem incredibly difficult, mostly plug and play. What am i getting into? X)

Thanks again for the turbo info

Re: New Kid

If you've never done one before I would say wait until you have the week off especially since you have a box of bolts and you have no idea what's actually there and what's not. You might need some extra time to drive back and forth to Honda to get a few bolts and whatnot. Don't want to be in a rush at the last minute you know.

Re: New Kid

Believe me, I'm not about to hack up a shell with 96k and a motor with 95k just so I can drive it next tuesday.

The bad part is that the nearest honda dealer from my house is about 45 minutes away :/

More reason for you to take your time and get it done right. Take it easy man. Good luck.
