"PRELUDE" on rear bumper

Do the letters "PRELUDE" on the rear bumper have the prongs on them just like the "H" emblems? Or are they attached with adhesive?

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

No prongs, if your looking to take em off, just use a razor blade and a hair dryer or heat gun. and then some goof off to get the glue residue off.

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

I've actually used "hot" water and fishing line before. Worked pretty well...

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

I just let mine bake in the sun and peeled them right off lol.

I would never use a razor blade on the body of a car -__-

OP - your method is one of the usual ways to do it.

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

Yeah, I just wish they had prongs... so much easier to put back on!
Since i'm on the subject, is there any type of liquid remover to get the chrome plating off easily without being too harsh to mess up the plastic?
My whole goal here is to paint them glossy black...

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

I would say, maybe, majestic Honda? I would think they would have it...
Anyone else have any ideas as too how I could strip off the chrome plating for all of the emblems?
My brother-in-law suggested to just buff it up with scotch bright and prime/paint from there...

Yeah, that's pretty much the conclusion I came to also. I really don't see any other way...

On a side note - the actual "PRELUDE" letters that I asked about, HOLY CRAP!!! What a pain in the ass! They are super soft. They seem like they are sort of a hardened foam. I did the fishing line and hot water technique and it just went right through the actual letter... I messed them all up! Looks like i'll be buying new ones...

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

Lol! I know! If they were plastic, it would have been cake! But every letter ended up coming apart in, about, 4 pieces... oh well, just another thing I need to deal with!

They're pretty expensive new. Why not just leave them off?

Re: "PRELUDE" on rear bumper

No reason in particular... I sort of like them back there.
i'm painting all the emblems glossy black, so I think it would be cool to have them on.
the link above has the gold ones for ~ $40.
