Lude will be sitting for 4-5 months. Suggestions?

I got a job in the Yukon and leave in May and won't be back till Oct. I'm going to be taking the insurance off the car and parking at home where my parents live as well. Any suggestions as to what I should do the car as far as general maintenance goes? I really don't want to come home and have to change all rotors and brakes and stuff from it sitting too long. My dad can drive it while I'm gone, but since it doesn't have insurance it'll just be up the driveway and back aha

You should be fine. Like ^ said just make sure your pops turns the car on at least once, preferably twice a week.

If you're worried you can drain the gas tank, thats really all I would worry about.

i was just deployed for six months. my car although it was in a garage the whole time wasnt touched once the whole time i was gone. i put some sta-bil in it before i left and made sure to change the oil when i got back before starting it and it runs just as good as when i left it.

Good to know ^

In the country, and I park outside. A car cover is a good idea, but I plan to use the money I make this summer to pay to get the body fixed and painted anyways. THEN I would need a car cover anyways though I suppose lol.

I would just throw in some fuel stabilizer and disconnect the battery and put it inside so it doesnt get corroded, should be fine though

Yeah I would think leaving at least a half tank is a good idea. Guess there isn't much to worry about by the sounds of it. It will be weird not hoping in it every single day :(

ummm this is bad. you will expose the tank to vapours that could cause it to corrode. fill the tank to the max and put stabalizer in and run the car for a few minutes to get it through the whole system.

and you don't need to remove the battery or disconnect it. you dont even need to start it. just put the battery on trickle charge for a day or so and change the oil when you get back and it will be good to go.

Re: Lude will be sitting for 4-5 months. Suggestions?

Keep a window cracked, have him start it up once every couple weeks and pump up the brakes a bit(to prevent from seizing..been there done that), leave the handbrake off as well. As for the battery, it's fine connected...it will not crap out on you, it just might need a jumpstart if it sits too long but I doubt that will happen.
