Struts & Springs

Hey there, this is my first time posting on PZ.

So i went and bought a set of 4th gen neuspeed springs for my 5th gen SH and i will be pairing it up with a set of base struts. Some say that the base springs on an SH will sit a little lower (maybe an inch) but i want to hear a few feedback from you guys. Should i go with koni's since they have adjustable height and i could put it on the highest setting? I would like to hear what you guys think.

Re: Struts & Springs

I suggest getting new shocks with your lowering springs, cause the stock ones will blow after awhile. Koni yellows are a good choice

Re: Struts & Springs

I highly recommend Koni yellows. However, you can't change your ride height with an adjustable shock, you can only change the damping. If you invest in a decent set of coilovers (i.e. Ground Control), you will be able to change your ride height with those. That's the setup I have and I love it.

Re: Struts & Springs

Your on borrowed time with stock shocks and lowering springs, its just a matter of time before they blow, than you gotta tear the entire suspension apart AGAIN to replace them. Just do it right the first time.

and will base struts even fit SH's??

Re: Struts & Springs

Hmm, because i got the neuspeed springs for a steal and they have 1.75 drop in the front i was just afraid that it would be a snowplough in the winter since i have a front lip.

Re: Struts & Springs

1.75" isn't bad at all. i had those exact springs for like 3 months before i switched them out for the neuspeed races which are even lower; 2.25f/2r. even that was hardly a snow plow.

since you already got the springs for a steal, take that money that you saved and put it towards decent shocks. just because you got a good deal on something doesn't mean that you should cheap out on the entire job.

Re: Struts & Springs

Alright thanks guys appreciate all the help. I'm planning to order some koni yellows this weekend and see how it goes from there. Maybe in the future i can change the springs. Base struts will fit on an sh with base springs though right? Just double checking.

Re: Struts & Springs

dont mix stock shocks with lowering spring
- rid quality comes pretty damn hard with that setup
- stock shocks doesnt last that long with harder springs

Re: Struts & Springs

I agree with getting the Koni Yellows if you are going to be on lowering springs. If anyone needs any suspension parts just let me know because I just opened up my own performance parts online store and since you are all fellow luders, I would be glad to hook you guys up. I can get you guys the Tein Street Basis for $620 plus shipping. If anyone is interested just email me at jose@islandimportperformance.com and be sure to check out the site for any other needs you may have at Island Import Performance - Brought to you by the founders of Island Import Day - Homepage
