power steering pump seal fix or replace?

i got a 00 lude and my power steering pump seems to be leaking the fluid, at a slow rate, but its slowly getting onto the alternator. my mechanic said to save time and just replace the whole PS pump, but what if the actual part isnt actually defective and simply needs new seals? the steering on the ride is fine itself and i dont hear any noticable noises like other honda owners do so my guess is just the bad seals. i could use some advice from you guys since you probably know more about ludes than me. lol
thanks.

Re: power steering pump seal fix or replace?

Can you pinpoint exactly where its leaking from? And/or provide pictures to help us help you?
There's two hoses coming off the pump;
-the high pressure hose on top that has the metal fitting which has an o-ring on it
-and the low pressure hose coming off the front/bottom, which is only held on by a spring clamp.

Or it could be a leaking hose. We can't really help you with what little info you've given us.
