Driver side handle question

Do any of you guys know how to get this piece out? I'm trying to replace my whole lock assembly and I can't figure this out and don't want to break it...

Re: Driver side handle question

I doubt it, but will it help if I post more pictures?
The issue i am having is getting the whole lock assembly through either the outside door handle opening or the inside access hole. And then the issue immediately after that is getting the whole thing behind the window guide....
That threaded metal piece came with the new lock assembly and it would make this job so much more easier if I could attach that one damn piece after everything is installed!!!

Re: Driver side handle question

The clip is actually kind of a 1 shot deal, and yhea its a PITA to get in and out without breaking it. We have never taken them out at work. Always just mess with it until we get it out and have never torn one up yet.

Re: Driver side handle question

That's a very misleading response!!! Lol!
Do you have any pointers on getting it out? Or do you just pull on it until it comes out?

Re: Driver side handle question

If I remember correctly(and that could be a big IF, lol) we usually take everything loose, then on some cars(cant remember if it includes the lude for sure) we actually have to operate the outside handle to get everything to move just right as we turn and pull and it pops out, can still be a pain in the butt.

as far as the clip goes, without one in front of me to look at again, I believe you have to spread it away from the metal screw in pin to pop the pin out.

Re: Driver side handle question

why are you trying to take that clip out cause that has nothing to do with the locking system. That part just control opening up your door

Re: Driver side handle question

Sorry, I've been busy the past couple days...
It's all sort of intertwined together.
The lock assembly (part # 32) is definitely connected to the handle. That plastic clip (# 18) is holding a threaded piece (# 22) that connects the door handle to the lock assembly (by that rod below # 22). Since it's threaded, you can't have everything hooked up prior to installing it all. In order to reconnect everything, you have to pop it in after everything is connected. And like i said in the first post, when everything is connected and ready to be installed, getting it behind the window guide is impossible... If you ever have you door panel off, check it out. You'll see how goofy it is.
But all in all, i did get it out. You basically separate the two pieces and push on the pin to get it out.
Sorry if this was long-winded, but i'm bad at explaining things.
If you want me to, I will take/post more pictures later on. Just let me know. It will be Monday (the 9th) before I'm able to...
