Buying A 5th Gen Prelude (Advise)

Hey there fellow, so this is my first thread on PZ, im also a member at PP. anyways,

A friend of mine totaled his 99 M3. Before bought this M3 he wanted to get a Prelude, but he end up buying M3, he bought it after 1half month he totaled his M3.
When i went to check him out on the accident day, he was sitting in his car and crying like a baby, i was like why are you crying man come on its fine we'll get over it and stuff like to cool him down, but he kept saying man i just bought this car and i changed that, this... man that moment i felt so sorry for him. He is a really good friend of mine, he does whatever i say when it comes to cars. So now guys he promised his gonna get an Prelude. Hold on PP and PZ another member is Coming hehehe.

I found this prelude on craigslist.

The Seller Says that it needs on engine, besides that He said The hood is having hard time to close ( not a Prob) and the Headlights are kinda Lose ( not a prob to fix i guess). Rest of the thing are fine. and as you can see from the picture, its Clean. He is asking 2000, but i will get it down to 1400 or 1500 MOST. does this worth it to buy and Replace the engine and all that?

Looks like an SH but missing the rear spoiler... hmmmm. Id be worried as to why it needs an engine. Did he drive the piss out of it for a long time or did someone just do something stupid one time? If it really does need a motor I wouldn't pay more than 1k.

He told me that engine is seized up.

sounds like it may have been in a front end collision considering the hood doesnt close right and the headlights are loose

I'd have to agree with this as well. And would also question why it needs an engine. Specifics.....also I don't recall seeing whether or not it's an AT or MT? Keep in mind that the AT are far less dependable/desireable.

Looks more like a 99 - 2000 base model judging from the no spoiler, abs plastic side skirts and rear apron. Has SH wheels though I'll give you that.

the hood latch could be misaligned causing the hood not to catch it. People probably slammed the hood trying to get it to catch.
this is what breaks headlight tabs, causing headlights to be loose.

at the rate H22's consume oil, it's not unheard of for one to run dry and cease up. This would not deter me away from buying this car. look for major body damage (repairs from past accidents).

That car is likely not an SH

Re: Buying A 5th Gen Prelude (Advise)

^ditto...

even with the piss driven out of it you should be fine with an engine... I drive the piss out of my prelude and she loves me for it, lol.

I'd prob. pay every bit of 1500+ for a really nice shell... cheap way to get a good car if you snag a low mileage engine from a trusted supplier...

Re: Buying A 5th Gen Prelude (Advise)

Thanks guys, Your advises really pushed me forward to get it. I think its an Base too, and it would be easy and cheaper to fix since SH tranny wont work with Base Block. All i would need to do is just drop the engine in there.
