01 Lude help!

Hey guys just have a few questions id likd answered, Please help if your of knowledge.

Im interested in buying a few aftermarket parts for my Lude, I have a 2001 Prelude its an SE model and its fully loaded leather seats the whole bit but i dont know if its considered the "SH" model since its fully loaded id like to order some Exhaust headers and it asked it its an SH model or not id like to know which one to order please help me out.

Second i was wondering apart 2 other parts, a catback and a Short ram intake. I was wondering it the Apexi N1 catback is bolt on, i dont want to cut any pipes and was wondering if it will simply take the stock exhaust place, thanks. I was also wondering if anyone has a AC Autotechnic Short Ram. I really like the finish on it and am highly considering buying it but dont want to move my battery to the trunk, thanks

Re: 01 Lude help!

Where is your oil filter located? high and a pita to get to or low near the oil pan?

Do you have an atts unit?

Do you have an atts light flash in your dash when you go to turn the car on? <-- easiest way to check.

If "no" to any of those- you do not have an SH.

Any full catback for our cars will just bolt right on without modification.- long as you get the proper one (base for a base, sh for sh)

Re: 01 Lude help!

SH is the same as an LSD basically

- outer* most wheel when taking a turn has more traction/power than the inner in atts

- and lsd just keeps power to both vs 1 wheel just slipping but can also transfer that to 1 wheel as atts does*

Or just look at the VIN JHMBB615 the 5 indicates SH, if its a 4 its a base

are your sure? from my understanding the ATTS acts like an open diff during straight line accelaration, whereas an LSD will lock both wheels together if one slips, say while launching it. The ATTS engages when cornering & diverts the power to the oustide wheel, where the weight of the car has shifted. If it went to the inside tire it would be pointless because there's less weight on the tire so it would break traction

Re: 01 Lude help!

Yeah, you're right (brainfart) - it's outer most wheel, just corrected my op.

But depending on the lsd - it too can transfer to the wheel with most grip ontop of locking up both

lol there would be - but i can only assume maybe the car was de-badged or hit and never put that back on after repairs.

Same goes for the rear deck - it wouldn't have a 3rd brake light and only a spoiler where base have a 3rd brake light AND spoiler. But never know if the previous owner swapped decks and removed the spoiler, i see base guys do the swap all the time and on occasion sh guys.

there are still a ton of other ways to check - but the more technical are the only way to really confirm since it's the cosmetics can so easily be changed :)

I keep forgetting about the vin check though - so that would probably be the easiest thing to look at and littlest effort lol
