H22 Type-s M2U4 Gears into M2A4?

Hey there guys!
I needed a bit of help with an engine swap i'm currently doing. The motor is the h22 red top from the SH and the transmission is the m2u4. Now seeing as this swap is going into a civic and I was told the transmission wouldnt be possible to hookup due to the ATTS module (something about the intermediate shaft going into the module then the block). Anyhow, When i found out it wasnt compatible I bought an m2a4 for the motor but my mechanic insists on not scrapping the the m2u4 saying it has better gearing and FD and says he'll swap the gears from the m2u4 housing into the m2a4.

I just wanted to double check with you guys and find out if that was even possible? I've already wasted time because when I was buying the engine and called this mechanic he gave me the go ahead to get it despite me telling him a dozen times about the ATTS and its incompatibility he kept reiterating we would be able to work around it fine. Later he said the ATTS was crap and were better off going for the m2a4 and swapping out the gears.

has this been done before ? possible?

thanks!

if im not mistaken they are they exact same gearing. the only thing thats really different about them is the m2a4 has no LSD and the m2u4 has atts, which serves as a type of LSD. dont quote me though

M2A4 : 3.307 - 1.950 - 1.360 - 1.034 - 0.787 - 3.000 - 4.266
M2U4 : 3.285 - 1.956 - 1.344 - 1.034 - 0.812 - 3.000 - 4.266

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't you just use the M2A4 without swapping the guts over? Is there a reason why you dont want to just use the whole M2A4?

i was thinking the same after what UPSluder just told me, unfortunately by the time i got to the workshop the mechanic had already opened up both transmissions and was was done counting the teeth on the gears lol. He doesnt use the net much. He tells me now that he was thinking of using the first three gears of the A4 , the fourth is the same anyhow, and then the 5th from the u4. FD is again the same.

then realized the difference in rev limit. Says he will get back to me now about the mix and matching. Labour is cheap here so the entire thing will cost me about 100-120 dollars to get what he calls "the optimum gearbox"..hes throwing in a helical lsd he says hes retained from an H22 gearbox?! which H22 came with a helical LSD? charging me another 150 for that. I

also, would anyone know the difference in revs in the type-s and regular h22's? found this neat calculator
http://zealautowerks.com/transcalc.php <-- only figures Im not sure about are the rev limits. I think the JDM H22's were 7800 ? and i'm guessing the type-s should be around um.. 8200? 8300?

thanks again for the help guys, much appreciated.

the sir-s came with an LSD instead of the atts like the type-s version. the redlines wont change at all, only your speed will

yeah but I was thinking this is a pretty futile exercise considering I thought the type-s would have just the teensiest bit shorter ratios but if it revs a tad higher as well (8200 compared to the JDM's 7800) wont that just offset it.
