Icon14 Coilovers... finally!

When UPS showed up at the door today it was a good day from then on... my coilovers are finally here. Goodbye to wheelgap lol! I went with the F&F Type 1 (updated version), hard to pass up the price point. Since I'm not too worried about spring rates and camber (already have a front/rear SPC camber kit) the Type 1 will be fine for my purposes... I'll post pix of the before and after and from the install--should start on it tomorrow.

Whew! Got that out of my system! Looks very promising. Are you going to stop there or play with some camber and toe? When that all comes together, Whoa!

Nice, how much did you get it for? Was price the reason you didnt get Type 2's instead? thanks

Nice, I'm riding the type-II's and I love them. Barely had on for 3 days now so far. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING'S tightened right. Or else you'll hear some noises.

Re: Coilovers... finally!

Ok guys.. finally got them on. I did a rough measurement for clearances, I'm gonna dial it in tomorrow to get the stance I want but I'm to o wore out from today. It wasn't a hard install, just tedious... I'll dial the stance in, wash the car and take some better pictures tomorrow.

Here's how it went:

Pulled out the front shocks and mounts first... thank God for impact wrenches.

Front shocks and springs out..

Oooooh, empty!

Front coilovers installed...

Realized I need to upgrade my bushings... maybe some Prothane...

Look, its red! LOL

Move the jackstands, on to the rear. Did I mention I love my impact wrench?

The old nastiness is finally out...

The new hotness... lol. On a side note, my exhaust should be here next week, went with Greddy Ti-C

So much room to adjust!!! Set to--SLAM

OK... the comparison pix.. keep in mind this stance is not final, I'll spend and hour or two tomorrow getting it right, then I'll take some legit pics with a better backdrop and good lighting. But you get the idea.

BEFORE>>>

AFTER>>>

And yes, I went with the Type 1's because of the price point, and the fact that I've already got a front/rear camber kit. Got 'em for $508 shipped.

Better pics tomorrow!!

Re: Coilovers... finally!

looking good! hows she handle and ride? I'm scared to lower mine because the suspension is so dam comfortable, I'd be interested to see what double wishbone would be like stiff.

Well, like I said earlier I'm dialing it in tomorrow.... from the test drive I took after the install today, I can definitely say that the ride is smooth. There's more "feeling" in the steering while cornering, but the spring rate seems to negate any dip on the inside wheel. Of course ATTS always helps, lol. When hitting a bump at speed, there's almost no bounce like the stock suspension--just a mild jolt that doesn't affect handling. Its definitely stiffer, but more sporty; and let's face it, our 'Ludes are the sports cars of the classic Honda world.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna get up early and get everything adjusted to my liking, then take quick road trip up to the lake for some pics. There's a lot of really good autocross backroads on the way, I'll put it through it's paces and post some feedback with the pictures.

Re: Coilovers... finally!

Get an alignment after making any ride height adjustments. It is going to be way off the correct numbers for toe.
