help with autobody repaint, pics included

hello gentlemen,

i am getting my prelude next week from my cousin and it has fender and bumper damage. ive searched around the forums and wanted to get some answers as to what is the best possible route to take as my finances are limited. if i can keep the entire project under $700, that would be freaking sweet. i bought a bumper from a SH for $70 but it is in silver. i also bought a new set of (4) swirlies for $50 in excellent condition! now all i need to do is find a fender somewhere. the car is mechanically sound and only aesthetic problems.

Questions:
1) how do the ebay aftermarket fenders fit? i cant seem to find any local sellers or junkyards for OEM fenders. i really want an oem one but im willing to go aftermarket if the fit is right. ive read the forums and some swear by them and fit well but 1 tab wont line up. others say go OEM and have had bad experiences with aftermarket fenders.

2) repainting CBM or black. the fender and bumper will need to be repainted. should i repaint the entire car since the color will be off? i found that a friend of a friend can probably do it under $400 and i will help him prep, sand and prime and learn a thing or 2 about painting and autobody. i dont know if it will be 2-stage but im going to make a request for 2 stage procedure if i go that route.

3) the reason i dont want to repaint the entire car is because aside from the fender and bumper, the car is in excellent condition. rarely driven and never seen snow. the cbm is still perfect on all the other body panels of the car. how difficult would it be to color match the CBM on the fenders. i got a quote from sherwin williams for ~$70 for the CBM paint.

my goal is:
-good fitment
-cost effective
-minimal amount of work
-budget is, as stated under $700

here are the pics:

Look for a fender from a local partout or junkyard.

Don't paint the entire car - just the bumper and fender. I would suggest blending at the least, but honestly with that color, even blending will show the difference in color to those with a trained eye. So just paint the parts and toss them on and expect a slight difference in shade, different factories painted the cars different shades even with the same paint code.

You'll need to check your headlight tabs to make sure the headlight will mount back in properly. And you more than likely need the 2 clips on that section of the rear bumper since they are easily stretched and broken when hit in the rear.

Where are you located? I'm sure someone local will be able to help with parts.

There are a few 'luders in the area - depending on northern/southern MD and there is a rather odd supply of CBM/NM 'ludes in the area up this way lol. So you could get the fender for cheap and more than likely paint matched.

# 23 and 36 in this photo are the ones you will need. Depending on if you have the screws in tact you may need them as well - so check prior to ordering.

I like how everytime something happens to a fifth gen it's always the right side. My fifth gen was hit on the right side too before my sisters ex took it.

Check partouts on here as well as Preludepower.com and preludeonline.com

I'm sure you can find a fender and bumper closer as to save you in the long run on gas and extra costs.

Re: help with autobody repaint, pics included

For aftermarket parts I have always used CAPA parts. I think i payed $40 for my fender and it fit really good, Its not hard to file out the bolt holes a little bit to get that perfect fit. You will need to blend the fender into the door so it will looks normal. As far as the bumper I would not blend that, from the factory the bumpers never completely match the rest of the body because of the different materials. Try empire auto parts, google it.
