Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

I can't seem to find the production numbers for the prelude colors, I recently found out my EPB is really rare which I had no idea when I first bought it. I want to see how rare it actually is but research hasn't done me any good. I've seen about 8 Preludes here about 2 silver 1 white 1 red and rest black

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

I recall seeing this question asked as long as i've been around the 'lude forums (05)

And i've yet to see an answer. Out of the 12000ish 'ludes made in 01- i doubt more than 2,000 of them were EBP... I've heard about a graph that had it broken down via color - but yet to come across it/remember.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

Yeah after reading the link the guy who posted it did not understand what my question was. I'm looking for production NUMBERS on the colors not codes. I think I'll email Honda when I get a chance, I've never seen a EPB driving around and it's pretty awesome to have other prelude owners turn their head in awe cause my color sticks out like crazy here in San Antonio, not too many blue cars in general.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

Also does anyone know how hard and cost of the paint to buy from the dealer? I do want to repaint my car the same exact color maybe towards the end of the year due to my bumper was repainted and doesn't match up with the car when its in sunlight and hopes to get a oem lip kit.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

Finding production number by color code would be pretty cool. as far as factory paint goes, check out this site: Paintscratch.com They get you the exact color based on production facility via VIN.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

I've seen a list with a break down, but if people aren't willing to search, neither am I.

production facility is key in matching paint color.... I have all 3 shades of CBM on my car right now, and some shoddy variations as well.

I spent at least 2 hours looking last night on pz/ht/po/pz/(absolute finally shut down fml) to no avail. I know it's out there and it was bugging me that I couldn't find the damn thread -__-

I didn't try bay area/puk/pa or the other random ones

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

9.1% of 2001 Preludes were EBP, which was the only year Honda made a Prelude of that color, (B95P). There were an estimated 12,000 Preludes made in 2001, so that means there were only 1,092 Electron Blue Pearl Preludes ever produced!

Woah, woah woah!!!

9.1%? Curiosity has me wondering where you got that number. Not calling you out bro. Just asking.

That's like joining pz, stating "yeah the pharohs tomb is left of albequrque"(spelling?).
Map! We wanna see this info and anything else like that.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

I recently found out the original owner of my lude had her painted EBP, since Preludes did not come with EBP in 1998. I recently moved from one tiny town here in Washington to another, slightly bigger town and saw my first EBP lude (Other then mine obviously). Ive only seen one other 5th gen in Washington but I made trip to Portland a few months ago and saw 6 In the 2 hours I was cruising the streets.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

Prelude Factory Paint Colors/Codes

Open the driver side door and look at the pillar to the right.

Inside the passenger door is trim codes. 5th gen were either black with gray (97/98) or blacker with gray(99-01)...with some of the 97/98 (if memory serves right) green cars having a black n tan combo. I picked some tan parts from a white auto at the junkyard. It was either a mega-rare car, 100% repainted over every square inch or an owner had swapped in interior from the green car. Some overseas models had other colors like red.
Now the previous generations had more combinations. Coffee, blues, shades of gray, shades of tan and shades gray.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

Defiantly not there, just like everything else on my car it has to be a pain in the ass. Ive got nothing on the passenger side, and on the drivers side Its got a bunch of random codes, none of which are paint codes because they're all like 9 digits, then its got the federal safety BS, then VIN and a barcode.

^^ me thinks it's there.
TBH I've never looked for it in my 97. But that's where it was in my 91. A little (maybe) 2" x 1" white decal.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

^^ both the trim and paint code on one driver side sticker on the 5th gen car.

I had a real nice 91 that I suspected had been repainted with a non original type metal flake paint. Either that or it had lived under roof more time than not.
And as in your situation the paint code decal was gone...if it were painted over I'd know the car had been painted.

That sticker Is missing lol, probably because when the original owner painted it, it was no long that code. Id just like to know what the original color was lol. Im about to go find out if it was peeled off or painted over lol.

Re: Electron Pearl Blue 5th generation production numbers?

Take off a fender screw or a door hinge screw.

Unless they did a complete disassemble to paint it, there's going to be original color lurking somewhere under a fastener somewhere. If not you got a car with a good re-coat.

Now keep in mind the car was originaly painted while still in Japan largely assembled. No interior or engine. So you may have to think about that when searching for the original color.

I had a burgandy '67 cougar with black vinyl top once that had been originaly gold w/o the vinyl top. Somebody had done a bang up job re-coloring the car. Way down deep inside the door panels were they way I knew it was gold at one point. They had completely re-colored the car.

Check out the 'Ferdie' thread. That guy did a proper re-color.

Ohhh 67 Cougar? That's a sweet ride. Whoever pained it did a pretty decent job on the outside, but clearly was in a hurry when the painted the trunk lining and other hidden parts of the car. Thanks for you help man. That thread is insane! Crazy custom fab!
