Gas smell when turn on heater

I have been smelling gas lately when I turn my heater on.
My initial guess is my fuel injectors o-rings since I recently cleaned out my egr ports.
I looked in my engine bay earlier, though I did not find any leaks of fuel or any liquids around the engine bay area.
Is it possible that one of the o-rings could not be sealed right, yet still cause a smell with no leak?
During the egr process, I took off the egr valve, pulled fuel rail to the side along with injectors, removed fuel pressure regulator. Then, drilled out/cleaned ports with carb-choke cleaner, and put everything back in. I did have trouble putting the fuel rail back on, which could possibly be my problem. I did my egr port cleaning about a week ago, though I did not really notice the smell until 2-3 days ago.
I'm really going to have to take a deeper look at it tomorrow morning.
The point of this thread is, if my o-rings are shot, does anyone know of any tips or tricks on how to replace them? Autozone is selling my a set of assorted o-rings that they claim will fit on our preludes for $9.00 .I've seen some people dip the injector in gasoline first or spray with silicone spray before putting them back on the fuel rail.
