Kocking noise from inside dash!!??!!

Hey guys... Just have a question on like a knocking noise that comes from
Inside the dash behind the airbag infront of the passenger side... When i open the glove box, i notice when i peek inside the dash, there is like a white socket/flap which open and closes really quicy... O dont know if it has to do with the airbag system or a/c system... Or if its like a faulty sensor or something.... It only happens when the ignition is on or the car in general is on... When i turn the a/c on it still happens... Even when i accelerate it keeps the same pattern doesnt change.... Someone help!!!!

Re: Kocking noise from inside dash!!??!!

To me this sounds like a blend door actuator motor problem from what you describe. Or the position mode actuator. I have never had a close look at the heater box assembly in my prelude so I'm not sure how the set up on our cars are. But on most heater boxes there are actuators that moves flaps inside to make the air cold to hot and another one to move different flaps to make the air blow on your feet, vents, defrost ect. What happens is, the actuator motors get weak and not powerful enough to fully to move the flap and it will start clicking or knocking as you describe.

If the heater assembly is electronic it will have electric actuators, If it is not electronic it will use cables and move the flaps mechanically. I'm not sure if our temperature control slider is mechanical or not, but our mode selector buttons defiantly are so there must be an actuator for it. Look up under the dash on the right side and try and put your finger on the area you hear the noise from until you can feel it too. You should be able to find it.
