Prelude Check engine light

High everyone i just finally brought a prelude on friday. Im a college student and live 3 hours from home. on my way back last night my car kind of jumped gears or something while driving then my check engine light came on. I feel like it's the transmission :/ anybody have and idea of what it can be since most mechanic shops are closed on sundays? Its a 1999 Automatic. I wanted a stick so that i wouldn't have the trans problem but couldn't find one, It also has 137,xxx mile

Re: Prelude Check engine light

Sounds like with the information provided, it is the flux capacitor.

On another note, welcome to PZ.

haha on a more serious note, more info is needed bro. when a mechanic shop opens up take it there and get the code pulled, that will tell you, or take to an auto parts store they will read it for free. But assuming it's an automatic, by what you said, i'm going to guess its slipping, check the tranny fluid level as well.

Re: Prelude Check engine light

Hey, I also got a 99 prelude 2 days ago and this morning when i was driving the engine check light came on. It has not affected the ride or the driving of the car, it still kicks the vtech at 5500rpm, the shifts and everything on the transmission is fine and the throttle response is still the same. Any ideas?

Pull the code. That will tell you what's wrong.

Try taking the gas cap off and back and clear the code. Both my 4th and 5th gen have thrown engine lights cause og the cap not being on right
