More money more problems

Actually its More problems less money. So after months of pain fully trying to diagnose my starting problem I finally fix it. (Loose flywheel ringgear(Who would've thought?)).

I still have a fluctuating idle, but that's another problem for another day.

As of right now I can't pass emissions. I'm throwing code P0505 which says there's a malfunction in my Idle Control System.

When my car fully warms up it seems as though it doesn't want rev from 1k-2k RPM's. It stutters up and down until I pass the 2k range.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

Re: More money more problems

That all sounds related to the IACV. I'd take it out and thoroughly clean it w/ seafoam/carb cleaner.

Re: More money more problems

I already cleaned the s**t out of the IACV. It helped a bit with the fluctuating idle, but had no affect on the accelerating.

Re: More money more problems

You may just need a new valve since cleaning didn't do much. - swap it with a local 'luder just so you're not wasting money.

Looks to be a little to spastic to be a minor vacuum leak - but it's possible.

I recall reading something about the dizzy can cause idle issues? but I may be remembering incorrectly.... so don't take my word for that one.

Re: More money more problems

I have a buddy with a Prelude nearby. Hopefully he lets me swap off his IACV with mine to see if there are any changes.

I've been thinking that too. I'm gonna do that after I swap out my IACV.

Re: More money more problems

does the car ever idle normal. if yes then tap the your IACV and see if its starts idling like that again. I that's how I usually tell if mine was bad. lol GL

Ace.

p.s. you can still do a leak down test even without changing iacv.
