my first 5th gen! mod questions

hey guys im now the proud owner of a 5th gen. i loved my 4th gen so much i couldnt resist trying one out and so far i love it. man you guys were right the v-tec pull is dam addicting

its a 2000 with only 115,000 miles, 5 speed, stock blades painted black, fresh crystal blue metallic paint job, skunk2 exhuast tip.

im really considering upgrading to a catback or headers but im concerned with the wear and tear it will cause on the engine (i want this car to last a while).

i really love the way it sounds already, so i would like to keep the skunk2 tip. if i decided to just add headers with the stock exhuast would i see any power gain or a noise difference?

im also about to install a new clutch but i dont know the difference between stage 1,2 ect....

just trying to think of a good set up that would be reliable and sound nice while still getting as much power as possible.

Re: my first 5th gen! mod questions

A header will have a lil affect on the sound of your car. And you won't get the most gains out of a header until you get the car tuned.

The different "stage's" of clutches usually refers to the amount of power the clutch can hold. If you don't think you'll do too much more other than I/H/E, a stage 1 will suffice.

Re: my first 5th gen! mod questions

to have better gains with a header the rest of the combustion cycle should be improved.. intake.. combustion ,, and exhaust.. so getting more air in and allowing the exhaust to exit faster will improve you power gains .... throw on a CAI and full exhaust and you will see and feel gains

again, you'll hardly notice any difference with individual mods, until you have all of them and get it tuned.
its not putting anymore wear and tear on it, its simply allowing the engine to breath better (inhale and exhale).

no, clutches don't put more stress on the engine. what makes you think that?

Re: my first 5th gen! mod questions

idk i just figured aftermarket racing parts generally put more wear and tear on the car. but in that case im planning on going i/h/e and stage 1 clutch.

will it be ok if i get the stage 1 clutch before the other mods? how will it affect the drivabilty if the rest of the car is stock

and how do you get it tuned

And be sure not to fall for the $2.99 ecu chip for 15hp on ebay lol. All other plans sound good and will cause no more problems than the stock parts.
