Help on purchasing first prelude

Hello everyone, i discovered this on craigslist, and i really like the way it looks. the guy said that the timing belt was replaced around 2 years ago, numerous other things as well. He said no problems, except the crack in the windshield which he said goes along pretty much the whole bottom, and some rust on the quarters. I would just like to know what you all think, give me your input and give me questions to ask the seller. Thanks.

Re: Help on purchasing first prelude

Ask him for the paperwork to the timing. Ask him if the water pump was changed. If he says no then the timing wasn't done (if he doesn't have paperwork).
I wouldn't pay more than 4k for it but might consider it since it comes with extra wheels and tires.
If it's a 5 speed, ask for paperwork on the last clutch replacement.
I would ask him just about everything to try and talk him down in price.
Good luck.

P.S. Wouldn't recommend getting it if it's an auto. They're known to fail.

Re: Help on purchasing first prelude

After reading its not worth $4500 has 140k miles on it rust! Needs new windshield. I can purchase one here for the same price but with less miles and a clean windshield. Shoot him an offer of around 3800-4000 Max! Car has problems and RUST and Windshield are not a Cheap Fix or an Easy Fix. If he won't do it then Move on the right Lude will come to YOU!

Re: Help on purchasing first prelude

He says the timing belt was done two years ago, water pump January of 2011, brakes are good, clutch still has some pop in it. New harmonic balancer with all new belts when he had complete valve job this summer. The rust is a little worse than I imagined, but I can deal with it. He isn't sure if he has any receipts for the work, but he said he will work on finding any.

Take a test drive with cash in hand. If you like it go for it. We really can't help decide for you.
