2001 Prelude Type SH

Hey guys - back on the market for a 97-01 Prelude/99-00 SI again and during my search came across a crazy find. I located a 2001 Prelude Type SH w only 2700mi on it! Per the owner it was purchased at a closed Honda sale and he owned it the last 5+ yrs. He said previously it was part of the Honda Tech program and then they sold it and he grabbed it with only 1400mi at the time. Key thing I'm trying to get some opinions on is the price to offer for it. He is asking.........$22g for this car . Don't get me wrong I know it's worth more than the bb but $22 really. Any thoughts on price for this car?? Thanks in advance!

Re: 2001 Prelude Type SH

Just because it's got literally no miles on it doesn't mean that time is not a factor.
That's an 11 year old car, 22g's is almost sticker price BACK in '01.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have that car, but come on.. think about it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I would move on.. Good luck.

No I agree completely - He's trying to sell it as a collector car but c'mon $22g. I wanted to make him an offer but no matter what number I throw at him I'm sure he'll turn down.

Re: 2001 Prelude Type SH

I bought mine from a collector and it only had 50k on it, got it for 6800. I know 50k and 2k on the odometer are a lot different, but not really on these engines. Also, unless you plan on keeping it as a "Collector" It really wouldn't be worth the money. Offer him 10.

Or Buy a shell for 2 grand, then put in the type s motor and tranny with less than 20k on it ( I found one with 15K on it last night) for another 5 and you got yourself the same car for way less.

I'm just looking for a stock prelude w decent/low mi to enjoy - have no plans on modding or anything. Have just always been a fan of the Prelude and 99-00 si and trying to get one for a fun car. I currently drive a 2011 Tacoma and I love it but sometimes it just gets boring.

Re: 2001 Prelude Type SH

When I was shopping for my '01 SH I found the same one with only 13,000 miles on the ODO. Granted it was in a small fender bender, the car was practically mint. That guy was willing to let it go at $10-12k. Knowing that, $22k is absolutely outrageous.

Damn reading these stories definitely leads me to believe I overpaid for my '01 SH w/ 76k on the ODO :(

Re: 2001 Prelude Type SH

Got to agree with the overall sentiment that you can get much more for less. With 22k you can do so many things to make a custom Prelude in your taste..
