Re: New to Forum, New to Prelude

so i'm new to all of this but totally stoked, i just got an 89 prelude about a week ago from georgia....no rust and the body looks great as well as the interior. i don't have any pics at the moment because the car is already in the garage waiting to get a face lift :) but i do intend on getting before and after pics. i'm in the process of deciding what i want to do with it. any ideas or advice would be awesome. i want a unique car so i'm really looking around and trying to think of all my options.

Re: New to Forum, New to Prelude

Ok, I checked out the resource guide (very cool btw) and also searched but was unable to find anything about mods that are fuel efficient. I travel almost 80 miles round trip 3 times a week for school and anything that's going to make gas costs less is awesome =]

Re: New to Forum, New to Prelude

welcome to the site man! For better fuel efficiency, off the top of my head, you could do weight reduction. Every pound counts, if you have miscellaneous items in your trunk or back seat, remove them before your trips. hell, you can even remove the entire back seat pretty easily (there's a whole guide on weight reduction, but that's just basic). You could slap a k&n filter on your sri. Changing the piping size of you exhaust to 3" will help you engine breath better and give you better mpg as long as you dont get on it too much (hard to do with a good sounding exhaust hahah). On top of all that, a tune will make a world of difference. A tune can be for several things; it helps get the most power out of your engine in the most efficient way possible. There are so many things that i'm missing, so feel free to keep searching. Good luck!

Re: New to Forum, New to Prelude

Thanks! And this may be a stupid question but by tune do you mean professionally? or isn't there a way to flash custom paramaters on the ecu? I really don't know very much about this stuff lol I appreciate everyone's help and i'll check out the weight reduction

Re: New to Forum, New to Prelude

Congrats on getting a lude and a clean one too!
Tuning will require u to chip ur ECU. There r a few companies that do that.
My lude is converted to OBD1 and will run of Hondata S300.
