Progress at last!

Finally got the under bonnet (Hood) work started. It took a little time to assemble the bits but here it is not yet complete but deff on the way.

Cam cover painted by Paul at Spooner Productions (great service and quality), heat shield copper plated and chromed, Magnecor Leads and all fixings in stainless.

As with most things in life, improvement in one area usually reveals weaknesses in another area, to that end next step is the removal of the corroded breather pipes and fitting a small K&N unit on the cam cover breather, then carbon plug cover and black nylon coating the various corroded brackets before the fitting of a strut brace. Once the snow and ice backs off a bit I will start on the suspension and exhaust (Iím getting ideas!)

This is another of my projects in the little workshop.

More when I get a chance.

Re: Progress at last!

Have not seen one of those in a good while. Is that a 750cc? As normal here in the states we got some "dumbed down" version with less displacement and if I remember correctly it was naked too. What year is yours?

Re: Progress at last!

Hi, it's an FZR 1000 RU, 136hp 172mph (book speed). It was a fully faired version, I have fitted Renthal Fatbars, 350LC front light, R1 brake callipers and stainless 4/2/1 with V&H can, all the spacers and brackets are hand turned, milled or cut on my bench. The next step is HEL brake lines and I am leaning towards retro fitting the seat subframe/seat from an FZ1, like most projects I don't think it will ever really be complete!

What year? Thought it was a late 80's early 90's genesis, course like I said

earlier our stuff is so different from yours. Sounds like your putting a lot of

love in the bike.

pretty sure it's a necessary part of the chroming process.

Re: Progress at last!

Thanks for the positive messages, much appreciated. I do not get to the internet much at the moment so forgive my delay in responding, I am training with a UK Government organisation that wears green (formerly red until the end of the 19thC), we are preparing for a 6 month deployment to a warm central asian location. The Lude will be going into a tuning shop while I am away for a suspension and camber kit and exhaust system. I will be using my employers facilities to modify the cam cover breather if my duty period is quiet this weekend.
