General Question about Tiptronic Transmission

Hey guys, I am hopefully picking up my 1998 prelude Tuesday or Wednesday. it is base with auto/tiptronic/sport shift whatever you call it. my question is, and this is kind of a general question about gears and transmissions: If im in 4th gear, and at highway speeds (65MPH+) is it the same to shift down to third as it is to shift into low gear? in case you need the power to pass on the highway or whatnot. i just want to know if doing that in this situation is pretty much the same, and if not, which is better for the transmission
thanks

2nd goes to around 70mph in the autos I think. At 65, I am not sure if it would go to second or 3rd. Probably 3rd since you only have 5mph left in 2nd.
