Got my exhaust gasket; what to expect/do.

Well a few months back I found an exhaust leak where the engine block and exhaust manifold meet, I never got to doing it until recently purchasing the gasket. My question is, since the exhaust manifold is connected to the flex pipe, could I just remove the nuts that hold it to the engine block without having to remove the entire manifold? I need to do this before school. I start UTI this coming Monday so I have to finish it asap.

Stock exhaust manifold?
If so, there's a bracket holding the manifold to the front of the block that you gotta take off in order to pull the manifold away from the head.

Yeah, just the stock manifold. Okay, It should be about half-way down where the 4-2 turns into 1?

cpncnc is infamous around these parts
Re: Got my exhaust gasket; what to expect/do.

I have stock header and there is a bracket on the back of the flex pipe, but not one on the header, just the bolts around where it mounts to the block. At least as far as I know it is stock, heatshields and all are still on it. All I had to do was remove heatshields and unbolt from block to do my gasket

Ah okay. Well my car is missing it's heatshield but I intend to get one as well while I'm working on it. So once I remove that bracket, I'll be able to pull the EM back and just clean and remove the old gasket?

Wow interesting. That's quite a difference between 4th and 5G's
