Brake caliper painting--good times

So my after seeing a caliper/rotor post earlier in the week (the one with the yellow paint job) I decided to tackle mine; I had a can of the VHT Gold caliper paint and some degreaser in the garage for another project and I figured since the factory calipers were supposedly "gold" it would look alright. I pulled the pad brackets off to paint but just left the calipers on and masked off the rest of the knuckle with a bedsheet. The surface prep took the longest--I soaked all the parts with degreaser, brushed them off, dried the surface, then sanded and wire brushed down to bare metal before spraying. Turned out well imo.

My plan for the wheels is to sandblast them and then powdercoat Championship White with red center caps and lugs, so I think the gold calipers will be a nice contrast with that. Also, my F&F Type2's are on the way next week so that space in the wheel well will be shrinking a bit. Can't wait.

Pics below...

Looks great man. Yeah I'm that guy with the bright yellow calipers, lol. The guy I bought it from owns a shop and he said his brother wanted to try out his skills painting them. I said....and he had to pick bright yellow? lol. If I have to change the calipers I may try and change colors but I'll just go with it for now, plus I hear yellow calipers add 50% more braking power.....

love gold man - good ****

May want to grab some clear and do some light coats. I used the same paint and it'll get dirty fast. Few light coats of clear ended like this:

(calipers had been painted for a few weeks in this photo, pics are from new rotor install)

Good contrast with the red.. I bet it's gonna look a lot better with some white wheels!
