HID projector issues

Hi, I just bought a set of projector headlights with HID's, and I'm seeing a strange pattern on the ground. Does anyone have any insight as to what the problem is? (attached pics) Against a wall, they look fairly normal, but when I'm on the road, the beam is funky. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Re: HID projector issues

What kind of projectors is it? Try raising the beam a bit up and so how it looks.

Re: HID projector issues

They are the Eagle Eyes brand, and yeah, i got them from ebay
I chose the brand after seeing a prelude on youtube with them, his/hers looked great. I am pleased with the fitment, just dont know what to think about this issue yet.

I'll try raising them up a bit and see what that does tonight.

When installing the HID bulbs, I noticed that they wouldnt install with the bar down. (I dont know what its called). The only way they would go in is with that bar diagonally, either at the 10:30 position or 4:30 position. I was wondering if that had anything to do with this issue or if there is a particular type of HID bulb I need to use with projectors? I tried to do my homework before buying but apparently I didnt do enough.

Thanks again for the help!

Pics of said bar??

You mean the spring clamp that holds the bulbs in the housing?

Re: HID projector issues

Dont have any pics, but its on the bulb itself. There is the glass and then a blue rod or something that runs parallel to it, and a little metal wire attaching the rod to the glass at the tip. Maybe bar was a bad choice of words.

The bulb mounts in the housing solid, i just read several posts online where the majority of people said that rod should be down, and the glass part of the bulb up.

Re: HID projector issues

Kind of, its not transparent like the glass is..its a thinner cylindrical rod that is the same length as the glass and it connects by a wire at the tip. 99% of the HID bulbs i see are like this, but i saw a PIAA bulb last night that didnt appear to have it. The only reason this comes into question for me, is because people were saying that rod can produce a shadow in the beam of light. I tried flipping the bulbs over but that didnt eliminate the shadow, just changed it a little bit. Makes me wonder if there is a particular type bulb needed for projectors.

Re: HID projector issues

Are you sure you got TRUE projectors? When we bought "projectors" for the FC3 they were fakes. They looked like projectors... but weren't REAL projectors.

How can you tell if they're fake or not?

Re: HID projector issues

Adjusted them higher, its a little better as in the light isnt concentrated right in front of the car, but it still doesnt seem right. Does anyone know the answer about a specific type bulb for projectors?

Re: HID projector issues

I believe I have figured out my issue. It is a design flaw in the housing of the headlight. The reason I am having a messed up beam is because of the positioning of the high beam light. Being that it is much more forward than the low beam, the low beam light is being blocked and that's what's causing the dark area in the center of my path. I think the reason the stream of light looked good on the prelude I saw on youtube was because he/she also had foglights, which filled that area in the middle with light. I need to get my foglights hooked up. :)

I appreciate you all entertaining my thoughts while I figured this out.
