1998 prelude sell or not?

Car randomly turns off on me while cruising down highway.
Ignition harness 160 and ignition switch 680 at the dealer

Power steering leak under car
Oil leak
Driver window off track
transmission has felt a bit rough for last two years especially while cold but seems fine.

SHouuld I sell this car or fix it up? I have it on craigslist for $2,000 negotiable right now. Is that a good price? Would any of you be interested in buying it?

Whats a good estimate of what it would cost to get fixed? Can anyone do any work on it or get me a better price with the ignition switch? Or diagnose it? I love the car but have been thinking a small pick up truck would be more practical.

Honda Prelude Ignition Switch at Auto Parts Warehouse

but I don't recommend doing it yourself unless you really know what you are doing...Did you ask if there was a recall because I think there might be and check around at other shops you may find somewhere cheaper if money is an issue

Re: 1998 prelude sell or not?

I asked if there was a recall and they said that in order for the recall to apply I would have to be able to pull the key out while the car was running. I am not able to do that so they told me that it wouldn't be covered.

Its $90 for diagnostic, which gets applied to price if I have them do the work ( of course) otherwise im out 90 bucks just figuring out if its the harness or the entire switch.

I am not mechanically inclined at all but I can ask around to see who else can do it. My friend worked at a honda dealership and told me that the dealerships have to do it because its coded to the key, but perhaps he was wrong or just doesn't want to do it. I have someone coming to look at it at noon tomorrow. I dont want to take much less than 2k for it and I am still considering fixing it up.

Re: 1998 prelude sell or not?

Thanks for the links. I will try calling another honda dealer and seeing if they will do the recall. I remember giving them my vin and her telling me that it only applied if the key was coming out. She did tell me that it hasn't been done on my car. It seems to me that if my exact car was one that had the recall it should be able to be replaced now even if it is not faulting just yet. Confusing to me, and im very busy with school and about to start a new job so I have limited time to figure this out.
