New tire is rubbing against inside fender.. help?

Hey guys,

I just bought some stock 04' RSX wheels for my 1997 Prelude. They look great on the car but I've noticed that when making left sharp turns the front passenger tire rubs on the inner fender. I took a look and sure enough it's rubbing against the plastic (See pics). Also, I just got the car aligned today (they put the wheels on too).

Specs:
02-04 Acura RSX Factory 16 Wheels Tires OEM Wheels
205/55/16 Michelin Primacy Tires (new)

My question:
Since it's only rubbing on the passenger side, should I check the shocks/struts for wear? What's the best way to fix this without getting lower profile tires? Spacers? Using a Dremel to cut the plastic inside fender? I'm open to any suggestions.. thanks guys!

PICS:

I wouldnt cut that inside fender. Theres air intake thingys behind the passanger inside fender.

anyway you should be able to change the tires because they doesnt fit your car. go to tell this problem to them who sold those tires.
QUICKLY

get more suitable tires like 195/45/16 (or let them to find you tires who doesnt rub)
or then spacers

Stock tyre size for the 5G is 205/50/16. It could be that the 55 profile tyre is too tall. What is the offset of the wheels? as this may contribute your your problem. Are you lowered?

Re: New tire is rubbing against inside fender.. help?

Just wanted to add that I'm not lowered. The bigger issue is that I bought the wheels+tires combo online and had them shipped so returning them would be very difficult. I don't have my spare set of wheels since I sold them at the shop (unexpectedly two customers there were interested in buying my previous set of wheels). I drove the car today and didn't hear them rub once.. it's only locked left turns/u-turns. I was reading some other guys used a heatgun to make the plastic area soft and adjusted it.. I might try to go that route. I also find it odd it's only happening on one wheel/tire, could there be something wrong with that fender liner.. or could it indicate a problem with my front passenger suspension?

Mine does the same thing too, only that side, but when i have someone else ridingnwith me then both sides start doing them, its pretty annoying, i dont have 55 then again im lowered, i think the offset is the problem, myboffset is 48, which i thought was stock prelude offset

Re: New tire is rubbing against inside fender.. help?

Hey Jake I was talking to a suspension guy today when i stopped to pu my sway bar end link bushing. He was telling me the front locating arm bushing is bad on my car hence why i get the rub. I will be tearing into it tomorrow, weather permitting, to fix the say bar. While i am there i am going to do a thorough inspection of the bushings and components located there. If the problem I am facing ends up being this locator bushing. Does anyone have a good source? I was thinking of PST bushings or similar.

Sorry not trying to thread jack but as we discussed we seem to possibly have the same issue. well at least the same symptoms. cept i am running a different tire size.
mine are 215 45 R17s

Re: New tire is rubbing against inside fender.. help?

Hey jake indeed this was my problem i had the chance to put my car on a lift today and check out what was really going on under there. I pulled the plastics off and the rubber bushing for the locating arm fell out. the nut that secures it in place was gone so after finding a new nut and reinstalling the bushing my rub problem is solved. may not be your issue but something else to check on your car.
