Icon8 Total Failure

So a few months ago I was on my way back from Destin Florida to Dayton Ohio. Over the summer a put a couple grand into my car for little things like replacing the clutch, ac compressor, shifter cable, crank pulley, and my temperature control slider was stuck on all the way cold. Anyway on my way home I made it a few hours into my trip and stopped to get gas in Alabama. I push in the clutch and coast into the gas station and hear a horrible noise coming from the engine. I fill up and decide to start the car again to listen turns out my timing belt jumped a tooth and bent some valves. So I decided that I was going to try and make it as close to home as I could (keep in mind it's midnight and I am on military orders and have to be home the next day). The weird part is on the highway it drove fine at 80mph (no noise) and I make it all the way back to ohio, shut off the car move my stuff back in etc. I then go to start it and take it to a mechanic down the road...doesn't start so I have it toed. Turns out I have a walking crank which is unheard of for a honda but my motor is toast it would be 2grand to fix the head and who knows how much for bottom end rebuild. After searching for months to find a somewhat affordable type SH motor I find nothing so I decided to gamble and go with Tiger Japanese since I am a broke mofo and just really need a car to get to work motor will be in tomorrow I'll be sure to update how it goes and how good, or bad Tiger Japanese is.

I hope all the best for you man, owning an SH is awesome, but it's definitely a pain to get parts/motors/transmissions, etc. for them.

Good luck with everything. I've ordered 2 engines from Tiger, only small issue I encountered was that the clutch needed to be replaced on the b18c. No issues with the h22a at all. :)

Just make sure you replace the belts, the motors are steam cleaned before they are shipped

Re: Total Failure

sorry it took so long to update...had a busy week swapped a d15 into my friends civic this weekend too. But the swap is finished and I go to start it up and for some reason it starts but doesn't stay running...I'm not sure why yet but it kinda sucks...The good news is today it was warm enough to ride my motorcycle again.

Re: Total Failure

I checked that it's tight and everything...the car starts for a second and then just shuts off....it's losing the spark and I don't know why, any ideas? I thought maybe ignition switch, or something with the immobilizer key but I'm not really sure how that works could that be a problem?

Re: Total Failure

Thanks everyone for the help...new motor is in now and seems to run great the only problem I am having is an idle surge before it warms up goes from 1500 to 2000 but I plan on taking some pieces off the old motor and swapping them over
