My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

I just bought me a new to me 1998 Prelude that I bought off craigslist a couple days ago. I paid $4500 for it and it ran great. Me and my buddy fell in love with it as soon as the Vtec kicked in yo. I've been lurking on this forum since I got it. I bought it with parts already installed and I really dont know what I have and would like to know. I've been tryin to research what I have but I would like to know if u you guys see anything special. It has a DC header, AEM cai , Tokico shocks ,some kind of exhaust with no cat I think ,Racing Hart rims and a Neuspeed strut brace . I figure coilovers too cause its lowered and some carbon fiber interior pieces. Please let me know if you see anything else that might be of interest. Thanks in advance and I look forward to being able to learn new things from the community.

The block says H22A4 . What shots do you need of the interior and I will post them tomorrow and not sideways

Re: My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

I was hopin it was an H22A when I learned of the red top. Maybe they just painted the valve cover but then there is no black underneath so maybe its a new cover or a head swap. That would be awesome but with my luck probably not

Re: My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

they either painted the original VC or swapped it out for a type S VC.
The carbon on the center console looks to be the OEM optional kit. Does it have the radio bezel and door handle switch covers?

I just went and checked . It does have it around the radio. So is that optional in the states or is that JDM?

Welcome. $4500 seems like a good price given the condition of your lude based on pics. How many miles are on it? Got any plans for it?

Re: My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

Thanks I look forward to being a part of the community and sharing my experiences with this great vehicle. Oh here are some bad things about my ride I failed to mention. It has a rebuilt title . It was wrecked in the front end but everything seems to be fine. It did get a fresh coat of paint. The paint looks good and it was done in factory color. The tint needs to be redone cause it's fading. It didn't come with a radio. They originally wanted $5500 but talked them down to $4500. It's mechanically sound as far as I can tell. It's a little loud from the lack of a cat. The guy I bought it from said that's why the CEL was on but hell people will say anything to sell a car. I test drove the **** out of it and put it thru it's paces before purchase and it ran strong. It belonged to some cuban guy who didn't speak english for nothin and had to have his old lady translate the whole deal, it was an experience but he had no problem lettin me rip it around. I really don't have plans on doin anything more to it than is already done. I'm perfectly content with the way it is. It has just the right amount of power and I'm confident in it's traffic merging ability and blowin away any other Hondas or any other cars in it's class that come around. I love my Prelude and I'm glad I didn't get the 98 540i I was gonna get. Thanks for listenin to me ramble but I haven't drove a car in awhile that got my adrenaline pumpin like my Lude. Peace

That was way too much in my book for a rebuilt With that many miles. But if you like the car that all that really matters. Welcome to pz and good luck with all that you do with your ride.

Re: My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

Well I figured with the extra equipment the price wasn't too bad compared to other Ludes for sale in my area that were plain and cost as much or more . The only one I saw that was decently priced was an automatic and I couldn't do that to myself cause it's a sports car . Also I'm glad I didn't do it cause of all the bad things I read on here about autos. If I would of got it I would of felt like a jerk on the forum. No offense to the auto owners

White diamond pearl for the win! Nice pickup! Do you know if it's an SH or not?

No, just a base but the ad I got it from said it was. I wish I woulda checked here first to know what to look for in the vin but from what I've been reading u really don't want an SH unless you plan on road racing. I only expect the occasional impromptu drag here and there

it was a usdm option, as was the woodgrain.

the jdm ones are slightly different, there are two switches on the right handle as that is the drivers side.

^what he said.

not trying to rain on your parade, but you shelled out that kind of cash and didn't even do your due diligence on whether or not it's an SH? There's even a sticky posted "buying a fifth gen"....

I mean it's your money and if you're happy with it great, but on behalf of all of us, I sure hope you don't have problems down the road...

Did you at least do Carfax, etc.?

1) has the timing belt thingys changed ever? sounds like your car has pretty shady history so MAINTENANCE now would be pretty wise thing
2) and that cel worries me too, IMO theres no point of going without cat, you can get better cat too what doesnt hold you back at all
3) why it has all the lips exept front lip? would look better with some front lip too..

Re: My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

CarFax isn't completely useless; at least it gives you title and registration history. That alone can tell much (not all) of the story of a car.

OP, do you know what maintenance was done to the car?

Re: My new Lude Tell me if you see anything special

I have an auto and plan to do the swap but their are a lot of auto owners on the forums. For reference point on what you paid, I got my auto with 112,000 miles , clean title for 3,000. So you may have paid a little much biggest reason being its got a rebuilt title. Hope you enjoy it though.

this doesnt show you oil leaks and such

+ with timing things get new ignition-parts (plugs, wires, cap, rotor)
