Low Beam Woes :/

Just changed the hi and low beams on my '97 and with the lows on I still cant even see at all in front of the car. The bulbs are clearly working as I can see thru the housing but not sure whats wrong. Any ideas? Also barely moving Ive got a squeak that sounds like its coming from the drivers side rear wheel-could this be worn pads or a wheel bearing?

Re: Low Beam Woes :/

Could be worn pads or a wheel bearing yes. You arent supposed to be able to see with your lows, they are so other people can see you. Its your parking lights..

Re: Low Beam Woes :/

Are you using HIDs or stock Zenon bulbs?

That squeaking in the rear might be your bushing being worn n changed soon.

Barely move? You sure your caliper didn't seize? you should get new headlamps every five years if they are plastic. Then cover with the 3M weather film.

Re: Low Beam Woes :/

you should be able to see with lowbeams. Those are they regular lights everyone uses, the high beams are mainly used when alone on a dark road with little street lighting or country roads.

Are you sure they're even pointed the right direction. Stock housings?

Re: Low Beam Woes :/

You might want to double check if the bulb is put in and secured properly and then adjust your headlights again. Happened to my buddy, all he did was take it out and put in back in again.

Re: Low Beam Woes :/

The squeaking could be your bushings or bearings but most likely it's just your pads. There is a metal piece that makes contact with the rotor that causes squeaking when they get too worn. Depending on your rims you should be able to look and see how much meat is left on them without taking your wheel off. Also, if there is a loud squeal when braking in reverse then it's for sure the pads.

Re: Low Beam Woes :/

they seem to be the factory headlight housing-I used regular w5w and H1s(only once they sell at the car center on post). Im sure theyre installed correctly as it'd probably be obvious if they werent. The housing does look like something flaking/peeling off. I wont have a chance to take the wheel off til saturday but Ive gotta change my oil anyways so Ill def look at it.
