so i was driving my car and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on after entering the prkwy banging from 5th to 3rd. i then noticed a 'clanking' sound coming from the head of my engine. im getting it towed to a shop first thing monday morning just to confirm the damage and get a quote on a fix but my question is whats my best option. i have 150xxx miles. is it worth the fix? or should i just keep my car off the road for a little while in the meantime while i save up money for a swap?

Re: Bent Velve Stem

if its just the head you wont need a swap. just get parts to rebuild it. skunk2 parts should be around 1200 ~ and you would need to get it tuned properly.

Re: Bent Velve Stem

You can pick up an H series for 600 in some places, or order from hmotors.

find the damage first then decide to rebuild or go newer motor

Alot of places charge around that. Especially if a motor swap is not their specialty it's more of a reason to over charge.

OP: prelude1897 is good for his parts, he'll hook you up if you do indeed need anything.

Re: Bent Velve Stem

okay sounds good. yea i brought it by my mechanic yesterday and he said that the engine threw a code cause the 3rd cylender misfired and that he heard the ticking/knocking noise equally from over my engine and under my engine. he didnt have time to rip it apart tho due to timing so i have to go back tm for further diagnosis. and okay thats good to know considering i might have to grab it from him. and 100 and hr is just a fair avg i go by so i know what kinda money i should be looking at. thanks for all the help tho guys
