Clanking sound during shifting?

Hey guys just need a little help in diagnosing a mysterious "clank" on my 97 SH. When shifting from a dead stop and at each gear engagement I hear what sounds like a suspension or motor mount clank. From the directionality of the sound I would say its coming from the passenger side front. I've pulled off the wheel and checked the suspension and dont see any suspicious wear, and the motor mounts appear to be fine. The car handles great, no vibration, no wiggles or anything out of the ordinary. The only way I can stop the noise is to feather the clutch and release very slowly so there's no jerk when the clutch bites. I'm not sure if this is related to the ball joint recall on the 97's... does anyone have a similiar experience or possible cause?

Re: Clanking sound during shifting?

Its tranny related not suspension. Check your shifter bushings on the tranny.

Re: Clanking sound during shifting?

Don't think its tranny. Everything was checked when we did the h22a swap
