5Th Gen Auto Prelude

Hello fellow luders, my prelude's auto transmission is done for and i have a couple questions. I looked around the site but i'm still confused.

1. My prelude is a 98 Auto, what tranny does it have? A M2Y4 or an M2U4?

2. What is the atts? And Is it for auto's or manuals? or both?

3. What are the price ranges of the transmission?

4. Would it be a hard DIY fix?

Thank you for your time and help, its greatly appreciated!

Just another luder trying to get the lude back and running!

Re: 5Th Gen Auto Prelude

ATTS is only available on Type SH and Type S/ATTS trims equipped with manual transmissions. Its active torque transfer basically mimics rear wheel drive characteristics while cornering.

Simple solution ... buy a H22A JDM motor and tranny and ditch the automatic. Conversion baby

Ooo, so i dont need to worry about the atts? correct?

Re: 5Th Gen Auto Prelude

Prelude Autos are typically expensive to repair once they begin to fail. Oftentimes a manual swap is similar cost to a rebuild.

Crap.

The Active Torque Transfer System transfers torque between the driven wheels as needed. In essence it is an electronic LSD, an earlier version of what manufacturers fit to supercars today. Except that while today's versions work on both axles, the ATTS only works on one axle, speeding it up or slowing it down as dictated by the computer - which is monitoring how much the driver is sweating, how dilated his pupils are, and which way he is twirling his hands.
