Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

Ok guys I did a search and didnt come up with anything definitive. I have a '97 Base with 215/45 ZR17s on all four corners. when i need to hit the brakes harder than my grandma would i get rubbing from the right front tire. I am talking going straight here not turning. I get rub when i turn as well. I had a local shop check my front end they said everything was tight but the right side sway bar end link needs replaced. The bushings are bad. Would this cause the rubbing under braking conditions? Anyone else ran into this? I wish i could post a pic i would have you guys tell me if this thing looks lowered in the front or not. but that will have to wait. Thank you in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

what is the offset of your wheels? i don't think a bad bushing on a endlink would cause that. yeah, if you can get a pic we'll be able to tell you if it's lowered. but you can also have a look at the springs/shocks and tell us yourself. you should be able to see if the shocks and springs are another color other then black.

Nope your tire size is fine. I have the exact same tire specs and never had this problem. And yeah if the springs aren't black then they're aftermarket

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

Where's the pics? I still say its the tires. If its lowered it makes sense. But if its stock height then something else. Could be the fender lining

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

Have you properly inflated your tires? Low pressure and old shocks/struts will rub all day long. Do you have a drop or factory parts? you negelcted to say what kind of wheel you are using and if they are after market or factory. Could be a number of things.

Not sure on the offset they were on the car when i bought it and the suspension is all black and looks like its stock.

UpSluder there are rub marks all over the innerfenders and front valance. or did you mean elsewhere?

Wing8806 - I will get that up tomorrow, I was under the impression I had to have more than 5 posts before i could post a pic. and your right it is a bit of a process.....

Travis - ty I will check and see if springs are a gray if not they are black.

Sideswipe - The car was just in the shop the other day and we checked the front end out and tire pressure. everything but the sway bar bushings were fine and tight, As far as what components are under there I have no clue I bought the car off a friend who bought it off of a dealer. All suspension components appear to be stock origin. Wheels are ADR Designs real close to the "Revolver type 62 Silver" the tires are Nitto NeoGen ZR

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

Either it's lowered or you have worn struts/springs. I have that exact tire size on my lude with stock suspension with no problems at all.

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

Hmm, for me it's hard to tell from that angle, a complete side picture would be easiest to tell for me. Some of the other guys should be able to tell from this pic though, I'm not sure. Oh and the quality is actually pretty good lol.

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

You should roll your fenders. Lol honestly I think the offset of those wheels are a little low and those tires def are a bit wide. Like I said...tires

Re: Tire Rubbing Back of fender.

it doesn't look like you're lowered... but, is it just me, or does it look like the car is leaning to its right. yeah, the wheels look like the offset might be a bit low. mine are on the very low end of the recommended range for being lowered. and i ended up with some 215/45/17 tires also because they don't make very many 215/40/17 winter tires. i do get a rub from time to time in the back though on some hard accelerating turns... especially when there is someone else in the car. so i would measure the offset and see how close to the minimum offset it is for an unlowered lude.
