knocking noise *Video included* please help

I have a 1999 Honda Prelude with 114,000 miles on it. In this video I included, there is a knocking noise that just started a few days ago. I can hear it when slowing down and if I am coasting. To me, it almost sounds like something is rattling under the heat shield. I am sorry for the crappy video, but it was just to capture the sound! I am so stumped with what this could be. I would appreciate any help!
Thanks guys

Wasn't sure how to put a video into the thread but here's the link

Re: knocking noise *Video included* please help

Sounds like a rod to me but its a little too slow maybe. Hard to tell from a video.

Has the timing belt ever been changed?

Not that I know of...I purchased the car at 93,000 miles back in 2008. Not sure if it was done

Re: knocking noise *Video included* please help

BUMP** lol
took off my valve cover today and turns out theres a lot of leeway in the timing belt between the cam gears (about .5 inches at least). Also, my belt slides back and forth.

Here's the video...I am assuming the belt is old and stretched since it's dry and hard. I guess since it was loose, I was getting a timing belt slap.

I think the belt is just worn because its dry and hard. Over time, the belts stretch due to wear and tear.

I know a guy who is doing the timing belt, balance shaft belt (below timing belt), and water pump for $350. Can't complain

Thanks everyone for the help

Re: knocking noise *Video included* please help

Word of caution... change the auto tensioner or replace it with a manual tensioner. Even with a new belt the tensioner will kill your engine since it is an interference engine.

The timing belt/water pump needs to be changed about every 90K. 100K is about as long as I would go. Just a word of caution... make sure you know about the guy that's doing your tb and wp. You don't wanna let just anyone do it just because they give you a pretty cheap price.

Well, the simplest way to tell is by your mileage. What's your mileage right now?
