cv/axles

What do you guys think about these?

Duralast Reman/CV Axle (6604) | 1998 Honda Prelude 4 Cylinders 2.2L MFI VTEC | AutoZone.com

Honestly I'm not sure what to buy exactly, I am planning on getting raxles or gator axles I just would like some opinions on parts. What have other luders gone with when replacing the OEM cv/axle

Re: cv/axles

noooo how mechanically inclined are you?? If not so much, you could go with a more expensive option like stated above. However, if you know how to work on yo own shiet, then just go with cheap ass autozone remans, and have a lifetime warranty. I've gone through i think 3 or 4 of those axles (from being too low + track days) and just take the broke axle in and they give you a new one fo free!!! fo free you say???

ya i went there

Re: cv/axles

Dont have tools to work on my car like that where I live. so swapping them out once a month doesn't work for me lol. I'm probably just going to get quality replacements so I don't need to worry.

I have a prelude and I'm a manager at auto zone. If you are driving the car and not pounding on it and got like crazy insane horsepower then u will be happy with these axles. No need blowing money for nothing

I'd be more confident with the AZ parts if I was able to do the work myself, I do love the fact that they have lifetime warranty though..

Re: cv/axles

^^i worked there for a year an a half before getting a better job but the parts really aren't that bad and they stand behind their warranties no question asked.. friggen ridiculous. For example, brakes are lifetime warranty but if you actually read it it says not covered under normal wear and tare (i.e. a year an a half later you need to get brakes again because they've finally worn doesn't count) but screw it, they always replace it anyways haha. Get the zone axles mate, well, how low is your car?

Re: cv/axles

Before buying at Autozone check for Advance Auto coupons at Fatwallet or a similar site. They've had great coupons recently - 30% off, $35 off $85, stuff like that.

How are DSS axles vs Raxel Axles for roughly the same price? ( think raxles are 149.99 each + shipping)

Re: cv/axles

I would just as soon go with DSS or Raxles over anything Re-manufactured. I work full time at the O'Reilly Auto Parts here in 'town' and while our axles aren't bad for daily driving use, I definitely wouldn't use them or any other "parts store" axles for anything outside of street use. I try not to bag too much on competitor's parts but I personally wouldn't use any of them. Yes, they do have lifetime warranties, but they're still re-manufactured. For track use, get axles that are meant for the track. For the street, just about anything would work fine.

Re: cv/axles

I think the stage 0 from DDS would be fine for me I just want to upgrade to something new. I have no idea what the differences are between DDS/rxaxle/gator axle but im pretty much going with the cheapest one since I'm not making crazy power yet.
