Ever see a crankshaft pulley fail like this?

I've been chasing down some electrical issues I've had for about 3 months. I now know that my problem has been a completely FUBAR crankshaft pulley. I don't even want to get into the list of new electrical components I've put into this car.

The car is a 1996 JDM H22A/Auto (5th gen started a year before U.S. I guess) Have any of you seen this before?

First pic is just for perspective. Alt is out, steering pump loose and moved over. Second pic is what the crank pulley typically looks like (and why I have been missing it as the problem) Third pic is the big one! See how the outer circumference of the pulley just slides off to the side? I reached in and did that by hand, didn't really take much force at all. It explains why my alternator(s) haven't been producing correctly. The inner portion of the crank is rotating at a different speed that this jacked up outer area.

Check it out and share insights.

Re: Ever see a crankshaft pulley fail like this?

Ouch man, that sucks. It sucks even more that it took you 3 months and however much to finally get to source of the problem.

I realize that parts fail, but do you remember doing anything or anything special happening to cause this?

You asked for insight you dumbass, I'm telling you I've seen it happen before. If you want to be a jerkoff, find somewhere else to post. I'd be likely to say it wasn't caused by anything you did, however your previous post leads me to believe otherwise.

He asked for insight. My insight says that's a broke ass pulley (which needs replaced) and fighting with a mod is a bad idea.

it's difficult to convey intent or emotion through forum speak, coupled with the fact that we don't know you, I would expect the responses given. The use of emoticons comes in pretty handy to clear any confusion lol.

Have you sourced a new pulley?

Re: Ever see a crankshaft pulley fail like this?

Yeah, I found one in solid shape at the junk yard and changed it yesterday. It was definitely the source of all the problems. Thanks to preludes being quite plentiful in the junkyards around here I've got quite a few items that I don't need from all this. Ignition switch, 2 ECM's, 2 auto trans control units, a couple main relays and some other odds and ends. It's all JDM stuff but if anyone has a need for it PM me. I'd rather give it to someone who needs it than junk it all.
