Exhaust nightmare!

OK here's the story. I have a JDM 5th gen (Si-R). I accidentally brought a UKDM non standard catback. I also have a UKDM Spoon decat. So my understanding was that the longer decat should compensate for the JDM shorter cat and longer mid section?

Problem is... There's a gap between the new system and old downpipe. (Approx 70mm) I've been told that the UKDM and JDM downpipes are the same length? So why is there this gap? The new system fit under the car perfectly and is on the mounts correctly. We're baffled.

Help please

Thanks

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Just checked the Spoon decat and it's about 35cm - which is about right for a UK spec.

Here's a pic:

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Haha yeah it's definitely a 5th! And I also have a 3rd, What looks like a test pipe? And I'm thinking the exhaust might be for a 4th gen? Are they similar? I can't find any drawings for them...

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

you bought a catback for a car with atts. they have a longer manifold downpipe so the catback is shorter. (just like the SH in the states) you bought the wrong exhaust. some manufactures like greddy will send you an extension piece so you can make up the difference.

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Oh really? I wasn't aware they were so many different variations. So the JDM Si-R doesn't have atts? (whatever that is...)

Would I be able to buy a downpipe for an atts Prelude and use that?

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Can anyone take a pic of where their downpipe ends for me? Or have a look at your and compare it with mine?

Thanks

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Im not positive that it will match up with the upper part of the manifold, but if it does that will solve your problem.
Edit: I always mix this up, the cars with atts have a longer downpipe I do believe. Would help if you knew what trim your car was.

I do have an extension piece that came with my greddy exhaust, dunno if you're interested.

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Are you located in the UK? I have a Type Si-R.

Not to be mistaken for the Si-R S Spec (which, I believe, is very similar to the Type S?)

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

You've already gone this far. Maybe hit up a custom shop n get a piece of pipe and have it welded from the FLEX to the TESTPIPE! Jus saying!

Re: Exhaust nightmare!

Remove the test pipe and bolt it to the end of the downpipe - you need a flex on the other end that connects to the exhaust.

Just as ogs said, you're missing the adapter piece for an exhaust meant for an ATTS compatible car. Usually these adapters are bolted up to the exhaust side of the cat. Not that it really matters, just tossing out that little extra info.

not located in UK, I'm located in the US... I'd still be willing to ship if you want to pay the cost of shipping.

you should check to see what it would cost to have made locally, could run around the same if not cheaper to have it done at a local muffler shop.
I'll get the piece I have and measure it and take a pic.
