SH Model?

I know that my prelude is not a SH model, but i was wondering, what is the difference between a SH and a normal lude?

in other words what the heck is a SH?!

the SH comes with ATTS (active torque transfer system) which improves handling by putting more power to the outside wheel when going around a corner, acting like an LSD

ALL SH's ahd a spoiler, and no brake light in the back window. A different shift knob, ATTS, painted sideskirts and rear lip, different ECU, and the oil filter is in a different location. They also had different wheels.

Atts

Ok I asked to get some input on this before, but I didnt get much in a reply.

I have a 99 Honda Prelude SH.

My ATTS light always stays on and will not go off. Also the check engine light is on as well. Well I got a code reading P1333 MFG malfunction. Which means I have to go to a Honda dealership.

So I did some exploring.

I found a 96 GSR ECU im guessing in the place of the ATTS Unit.

What I want to know is, did this 96 GSR take my ATTS away??

Also, I heard that you need a special key to work in a prelude. Well ill tell you this I have a copy key. Not an actual key.

If you guys need a visual of what I am talking about I will take a pic for you.

Hope someone can help me.

Just wondering, why did is there a 96 GSR ECU in there? I'd expect it to be a 95 and OBD1 swapped but I guess not, but yes, that took your ATTS away and that's why the light is on, basically saying it isn't functioning properly or at all.

Also different interior door panels. (SH model has a light in each one.) Beside just the shift knob being different the boot is different as well to mate to the bottom of the different knob.

I forgot bout the doors. I wish I had SH doors. Them lights are very useful to me in the cars I get in that have them. I'm thinking about just cutting into mine and putting some in there.

Most likely you will have to change the harness. Also, many forget the SH also rides higher, weighs more, and has a different steering wheel .

I could be mistaken but the "SH" stands for Super-Handling. Just wanted to add that in there.

As for the special key, I need mine reprogrammed and it costs 150 from the dealer, when you switch ecus back to original you will need the key reprogrammed. If you want to save money (what I am currently doing) you can bypass the key chip by inputting a code using the ebrake, annoying but will save you 150 bones.

the SH sits just a little higher because the spring rates are just a little higher, also it ways a little more due to the added amentites. thomas97 wish you had an SH huh?

The special key your talking about is the red key right? My honda tech told me to never use that.

I have a red key and I have been told by my tech that if it is used I will no longer be able to use any key what so ever to start my car, I really don't see a purpose to that, but I do have a valet key that will work the doors and the ignition, but not the trunk or glove box.

How much higher does the SH sit? 1-2mm? Higher because of the spring rates? So they just don't end up sagging like a base model?

What's different about our steering wheel? The sensors in it for the amount of turn?

The only reason not to have an SH is because you think you may some day want to boost your car and you'll lose the ATTS unit anyway.

I don't understand the GSR ECU in place of the ATTS unit- that's what he said, isn't it?

The steering wheel is wrapped just like the shift knob. It has a leather cover with should be red stitching.

GSR never got atts. What do you mean by there is a gsr ecu in the spot where the atts ecu is suppose to be? A gsr's ecu cannot plug up with the atts plugs. This gsr ecu your speaking of, does it say p72 on it? or does it say P5P? The atts unit is a small box with greyish color right next to the ecu. both will say p5p on them.

As far as your keys go... if it's not the one with the chip in it the car won't start. if you don't have that chipped key and the car starts then your immobalizer as been bypassed or something.
