DIY/Fuel cut off switch

*(EDIT, Relay was added. Scroll down after reading this)* I decited to do a diy on how to do a fuel cut off switch. I had one on my integra for a long while and it sure help me sleep better at night. It's really easy to do and you'll spend at most 10 bucks. One thing I learned is if they want it, they'll take it. I say throw obsticals at them until they give up, I had my teg stolen once and broken in to twice. After alarms, additional shock sensors, fuel cut off switch, piezo siren, etc etc, I finally was able to sleep.

Things you need: A 2 terminal throw switch (bout 8 bucks at autozone), wire, Flat head and Philip screw, and 12,14 socket and ratchet.

First thing your going to do is remove the passenger door trim, after that you'll see wires that run along the side that are covered, the one you're gonna need it the black/yellow. That wire is for the fuel pump

So that's the wire u need, cut it, extend both sides of the wire and add it to the switch, question is where r u going to put it? The 14mm socket are for the seats, there's four bolts on each side, center consol is removed by 5 screw on each side (if I'm not mistaken), bottom rear seats are removed by pulling on a tab on both sides, panels come out by snaps and rear top seats are removed by 12mm socket, keep in mind that wire runs a long way so make sure u know where u wanna cut it

Find your location, , u want this to b as clean and stealthy as possible, it's your car your taking care of.

Re: DIY/Fuel cut off switch

Very nice, probably would be good to hide the switch near the driver somewhere so you can switch it on/off without noticeably reaching for it constantly.

And also to not post pictures of the switch's location online!

Nice write up

Yeah, common sence, u do t wanna reach around making it too obvious, nor letting people know where it's at, be clever :)

When you buy a car from someone who alleges to have lost the red key, you do what you can. The writeup is great! I am doing it tonight. How do I know the previous seller does not have a spare key coded to the car? Better safe than sorry.

Re: DIY/Fuel cut off switch

That's pretty cool you came back and updated.

2 years later. Nice write up btw. Simple but complete.
An antenna switch on a car with electric antenna or that type of thing is convenient and completly stealth.
Toggle switch.... not so stealth.

Re: DIY/Fuel cut off switch

^^ lmao.
Yep, don't even need to lock my doors on the auto red car, what with a $88 kenwood and that auto shifter.

Wait, I have an arm rest in my 91... oh well it's from an accord, yechth.

Re: DIY/Fuel cut off switch

Back once again, soooo, I decided to add a relay and I suggest u do the same, reason being is because the switch won't last, sry to say. It's not ment to have power travel through it. So what I did was I bout a relay for 8 bucks 12v 20-30 amp spdt and went off this

Took it off a fellow person online and it came out like this

As u can see, the red wire is to and from the fuel pump/and 12v power. And the orange wire got jump from one connected to another. and the last orange went to a switch which led to ground, meaning there's no load on the switch. Woohoo
