Question about my Cat

So my CEL came on and I believe my cat is stock with 169000 miles on it and needs to be replaced....i found this

BLACK 1992-1996 97-01 PRELUDE HI FLOW CAT CONVERTER 98 | eBay

I saw that it has the O2 sensor port and wanted to know if anyone else has put an ebay hi flow on and if the O2 sensor reads normal...ive read different things and wanted some clarification.

Weld it in with a buddy. Who would know the difference? And even if they do hook you up to emissions and it fails then It looks like it's time to buy a shady mechanic a few beers to get ya to pass ;)

Re: Question about my Cat

a regular cat costs upwards of $300....not about to pay that when I can get an ebay header-cat-and cat back for less

haha, welcome to the land of confusing emission laws! :)
You can read up on it some here: What-Is-Legal
Site has tons of info on CA cats. I just went through this and learned quite a bit (doesn't make it cheaper though!) Good luck

what was the code? if it was the p0420 cat code and your exhaust is stock, just get this direct fit magnaflow:

MagnaFlow 22644 - MagnaFlow Direct Fit Catalytic Converters - Overview - SummitRacing.com

if you shop around you might be able to find it a little cheaper. if you throw another p0420 after switching the cat out, do the spark plug non-fouler mod to the after cat O2 sensor. it seems to be hit or miss whether or not you'll throw another cel. my '96 threw another cat code after 6 months with this cat on, and the non-fouler mod fixed it. it's just because of the increased flow. no reason to spend hundreds on a new cat if you ask me.
