Just wondering....

So I am painting my VC today and wanted to shoot some pics of my cams out there to see if anyone catches anything out of the ordinary. ....also will be posting pics of my progress! Thanks for looking.

I think the timing belt looks to be in good shape...no wear, tears or fraying!

Re: Just wondering....

the belt might look fine, but you never know when the belt, waterpump, or tensioner are going to fail. That's why honda gives you a timeline/mileage requirements for a timing belt service.

you should really use a garbage bag and secure it over your head so you don't get a bunch of crap in there, closing the hood is not good enough.

good luck with the vc painting.

btw.... why the hell is there a hammer in the picture???

Re: Just wondering....

yea the garbage bag is on and as for the hammer lol one of the grommets was stuck so I need a little force to get it out. I know the timing belt and all of the forementioned parts were too just not sure on the exact milage....I plan on replacing it all again in the summer 2012

awesome. just making sure you're A ok.

I hope you plan on letting the paint dry sufficiently, so the finish will last.

Stripper is on and doing its thing great! I plan on letting the primer dry for at least 3 hours after using a hair dryer and then painting tonight and letting it sit until monday morning....

Re: Just wondering....

You should learn how to check a timing belt. if you take flat head and press the tip of it on the belt where it hits the cam gear, the mark will disappear if its got some life. ie still nice and flexible.if the small indentation stays, replace that asap.

Did you mask your VTEC lettering or scrape it after painting? Looks good

What kind of paint did you use? Just spray paint or something special?

I'm pullin mine off next week to put in my S2 cam seal and since its off anyway I figured its time to paint. I'm doing the VHT Red Wrinkle paint picked it up at Summit for about 11 bucks. Thanks or the info on the masking I was just gonna dremel it off with a polishing wheel. Did you lay a piece of tape over the lettering and then just razor blade the excess?

Re: Just wondering....

I wanted to use VHT red wrinkle so bad but no place in chattanooga has it or any wrinkle of any kind....yea just laid the tape over the letters and it took probably 1.5 hours to shave the excess away....once you get the hang of it, it will go quick. good luck and post picks!
