decision on h22 bore

so i finially got my block torn down and measured all my clearences, and i need to bore it. now im not planning on another future rebuild, so i possibly could do the maximum rebore. i do want more hp, and so i could do like a .40 overbore with oversized pistons and make a few more hp right? or should i do a slight .20 rebore in case down another 300,000 miles i want to rebuild again instead of buying another engine?
i do want to boost in the future. my plan is buying another engine after this one dies and building it up and boosting that.
so how much overbore could i do for more hp without sacrificing strength? thanks

well im not planning on boosting this engine....or are you saying i should do a big overbore and sleeve it for more strength?
i dont really want to sleeve considering im not planning on putting alot of stress on this block, how much is a sleeve job anyway?

i dont get why you would want to rebuild two times just build it once and save some money

well like after this rebuild wears out, rebuild it again, like in 10-15 years. but thats a long time and by then, ill get a new engine. or a new car.
so im going to bore it oversize, .3 or .4, i have to do piston research first and see what i want. big enough to get more power but not crack my block under high rpm's. you think .4 will be good?

first of all if you plan on changing out the pistons, you shold sleeve the block. The only forged pistons that can "safely" be used w/ the stock FRM sleeves are the mahle gold series.

In my opinion if you bore the stock sleeves and use mahle pistons, you're wasting your money. Do it once, sleeve the block.

sound like you have ideas, but haven't done a lot of research. All this info is out there man.

What if you were to take it out of the bay yourself and ship it to them? Would you be looking at under a thousand? Estimate.

he said he already took it out and tore it down.

OP: if youre looking for cheap power, get the oversized type s pistons and call it a day

i could give you an estimate but id by lying to you. you should call up a few machine shops and ask them. personally id rather spend too much on getting it done correctly the first time then getting it done cheaply and doing it two times.

Re: decision on h22 bore

thanks for all the responses. i do remember now stories of oversizes pistons tearing up FRM sleeves. so im going to do my orginal plan that i was thinking, get those type S pistons. then later i can sleeve my block and do a full n/a build.
and yes i have the block all stripped. im going to call the shop an see how much it is to get it sleeved, just so i know for later.
