Random misfire p1399 and p301

So 97 prelude, 65k on the motor. New plugs, wires are in spec, new rotor cap, recent valve adjustment.

P1399 means multiple cylinder misfire, and is either bad EgR or needs valve adjustment.
P301 is cylinder 1 misfire.

I can not replace the rotor because that phillips screw is stripped.
I have the rotor I just need to be clever. But my misfire is only at idle, acceleration is normal and response. I just don't know if the EGR is truly the cause? I guess I don't understand how it would cause issues.

Ideas? Thank you for helping, I've read so many forums.

Any oil in the spark plug chambers? Bad seals can cause oil to get up in there and BANG! Misfire. Hope that might have helped.

Re: Random misfire p1399 and p301

I am having the same issue! I have a 98 Lude SH and the CEL's are a P301 cylinder 1 misfire and a p1399 multiple cylinder misfire, and is either bad EgR or needs valve adjustment. I've check spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, injectors, and the egr valve. The EGR valve was junked up with carbon so i cleaned it and now the misfire sounds even more prevalent. The car has just had a new distributor, Head Gasket, valve adjustment, timing belt, and water pump... If you resolved your issue or is anybody could shed some light on my problem it would be greatly appreciated!!
