Icon5 Prelude SH & HKS Dragger Exhaust Incompatibility

I'm fairly new to Hondas, and brand new to the Prelude aftermarket/self-repair scene.
I did some searching, and couldn't find anything that answered my question;
my apologies if it has been answered somewhere and I missed it.

Why is the HKS Dragger Exhaust incompatible with the Prelude SH Model?
I've been impressed with HKS for a while, and was hoping to toss their exhaust onto the SH I just picked up, but was dissappointed to find that is doesn't fit on the SH model.

Why is this?
Is there any modification possible that will make it fit?

Re: Prelude SH & HKS Dragger Exhaust Incompatibility

If it fits the base model you should just need an extra piece of straight pipe to make it work on the SH, or it might be the other way around I forget(extra pipe needed for base model). Either way you can make it work, unless there is some reason unique to that exhaust system I'm unaware of. Hope this helped, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in eventually. Btw welcome to the site, post some pics of your ride when you get a chance

Re: Prelude SH & HKS Dragger Exhaust Incompatibility

^^ You've got the right idea.

The exhaust for the Base is longer vs the exhaust for an SH. So if you have a Base exhaust that is too long (some come with a 5" or so spacer between the cat and the actual exhaust so you can use the spacer for a base or remove the spacer for an sh) So if you tried to bolt yours on but it's too long - you will need to cut a few inches of the pipe off and have a new flange welded on.

Any exhaust shop can do this for you - unless you're handy with a welder.

Re: Prelude SH & HKS Dragger Exhaust Incompatibility

just buy the exhaust and get a magnaflo highflow cat for a base, that way you won't need the extension or extra welding.

the SH cat is shorter than the base cat, which effects the length of the catback exhaust.

its not shorter, it just locates few inches further back.
and SH collector ends a few inches farther downstream than the base so the catback needs to be little shorter than base
