Icon2 Quick VIN question

So, I found a useful website that decodes your VIN number and It came back with some interesting results.

VIN JHMBB615XVC006571

Year 1997 Engine Type 2.2L L4 DOHC 16V
Make Honda Driveline FWD
Model Prelude Ground Clearance 5.70 in.
Trim Level Type SH Front Brake Type Disc
Manufactured In JAPAN Rear Brake Type Disc
Body Style COUPE 2-DR Anti-Brake System 4-Wheel ABS
Transmission 5-Speed Manual Overdrive

So, I know this has an H22A4 motor in it... BUT it has a red valvecover. which supposedly the red valvecover is indicative of the h22z1 and other models that have the 220 HP. so now im very confused. cause I was under the impression that the cars meant for sale in the US only came with the H22a4 that pumped out 180-200 HP. Im very confused and excuse me If ive got my facts messed up. It seems like these cars came with many engines with subtle diffrences between them. maybe someone just switched my valvecover XD.

Re: Quick VIN question

Look to the left of the header and look for the engine stamp.

Re: Quick VIN question

Engine says H22a4. But why the red valvecover? Were there ever any preludes made in japan that came stock with this combo? or was this an add on by a previous owner?

Re: Quick VIN question

^ exactly. someone either repainted the stock one, or switched it out for a red one purchased from honda. they still sell red, blue, and black valve covers for the h22 motors
